Woven textile design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This chapter considers woven fabrics, their formation, properties and applications. It explains the principles of weaving, details the basic constructions, and common weaving terminology in use. Design approaches to woven fabric design are detailed, along with the role that technology plays to create and communicate ideas.

Unitary weaving: a rapid design-build strategy for temporary buildings

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering, 2023
The global demand for temporary structures is increasing in the wake of epidemics and wars. The need to build such structures in a prompt, effortless, and inexpensive manner has become a major focus of research.

Optimization of the Young's modulus of woven composite material made by Raphia vinifiera fiber/epoxy

open access: yesInternational Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, 2022
This work focuses on the optimal design of the woven fabrics made from Raphia vinifiera, fiber, and their contribution as reinforcing element in the epoxy matrix. The work is done alternately experimentally and theoretically.

Influence of woven ply degradation on fatigue crack growth in thin notched composites under tensile loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper deals with the fatigue of the through the-thickness crack propagation in thin notched composite laminates made of two glass woven plies. It highlights the different crack growths between warp and weft directions of the woven ply.

Stochastic simulation of woven composites forming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A stochastic forming simulation procedure is developed and implemented to investigate the effect of geometric variability in pre-impregnated woven textiles on manufacturing. Image analysis is used to characterise variability in tow directions and unit

Fatigue crack growth in thin notched woven glass composites under tensile loading. Part I: experimental [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Helicopter blades are made of composite materials mainly loaded in fatigue and have normally relatively thin skins. A through-the-thickness crack could appear in these skins.

Draping woven sheets

open access: yesANZIAM Journal, 2020
Motivated by the manufacture of carbon fibre components, this paper considers the smooth draping of loosely woven fabric over rigid obstacles, both smooth and nonsmooth. The draped fabric is modelled as the continuum limit of a Chebyshev net of two families of short rigid rods that are freely pivoted at their joints.

A research on the local knowledge and art of Kormanji braids [PDF]

open access: yesDānishhā-yi būmī-i Īrān
Ili and nomadic braids are a part of the weaving system and an outstanding example of the native arts of this layer, which is remarkable in the artistic and visual field.

A simplified rate dependent model of forming and wrinkling of pre-impregnated woven composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A simplified finite element model is developed and validated for the forming/ draping of pre-impregnated woven composites, incorporating the effects of wrinkling and strain rate dependence. The model development builds upon previous work on simulation

WOVEN BRAIDS AND THEIR CLOSURES [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 1999
A special class of braids, called woven, is introduced and it is shown that every conjugation class of the braid group contains woven braids. In consequence tame links can be presented as plats and closures of woven braids. Restricting on knots we get the 'woven version' of the well-known theorem of Markov, giving moves that are capable of producing ...
