Applying thermal therapy: Comparison of different commercially available heating devices to increase muscle temperature

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Although various medical devices are available for the purpose of heat therapy, their effect on muscle temperature remains unclear. This study compared the effects of a water‐perfused suit (WPS), short‐wave diathermy (SWD) and hot‐water immersion (HWI) on muscle, core and skin temperatures, along with perceived thermal discomfort.

Passive heat intervention research in women: Systematic review and audit of female representation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Passive heat interventions (PHIs) are non‐exercise heat‐acclimation strategies that improve physiological markers associated with heat tolerance and reduce vulnerability to heat‐related illness, when exercise is not feasible. However, representation of female participants within this literature remains unclear.

Comparative analysis of volume change behavior of expansive road subgrades stabilized with waste paper sludge

open access: yesScientific Reports
Expansive soils have a high tendency for volume change in case of fluctuations in moisture content, potentially causing significant damage to light structures, particularly road pavements. This paper investigates the influence of waste paper sludge ( $$\:

On the $\wp$-Zero Value Function and the $\wp$-Zero Division Value Functions

open access: yesTokyo Journal of Mathematics, 1991
For \(\tau\) in the upper half plane \({H}\), the Weierstrass elliptic \(\wp\)-function with fundamental periods \(\b{Z}+\b{Z}\tau\) is denoted by \(\wp(z,\tau)\). Let \(D_ 1\), \(D_ 2\) be two domains in \({H}\) and \(u_ 1\), \(u_ 2\) be two analytic functions on \(D_ 1\), \(D_ 2\) respectively. Assume \(\wp\bigl(u_ i(\tau,\tau\bigr)=0\) for \(\tau\in

What Makes Text‐Based Online Chat Work? Communication Features of Effective Chat Helpers' Responses to Chat Users

open access: yesCounselling and Psychotherapy Research, Volume 26, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Text‐based online chat (TBC) offers accessible mental health support for youths and young persons who may avoid traditional face‐to‐face services. While research demonstrates TBC's effectiveness, limited studies examine which specific chat helpers' communication features contribute to positive outcomes. This study identified textual

Distinct effects of interdecadal Warm Pool Seesaw and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation over the tropical Indo-Pacific

open access: yesGeoscience Letters
Decadal variability in the tropical Indo-Pacific complicates precipitation projections. Here, we quantify the influence of newly identified Warm Pool Seesaw (WPS) and traditional Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation (IPO) using large ensembles from the ...
