Pressure Induced Molecular‐Arrangement and Charge‐Density Perturbance in Doped Polymer for Intelligent Motion and Vocal Recognitions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The sidechain doped polymer is investigated to have great potential for pressure detection due to the advantages including molecular rearrangement and charge‐density perturbance induced by micro‐mechanical deformation. This sensor displayed low‐pressure detection limit of 0.7 Pa as well as a rapid response time of 18.8 ms, enabling multi‐mode motion ...

Forward and inverse kinematics of double universal joint robot wrists [PDF]

open access: yes
A robot wrist consisting of two universal joints can eliminate the wrist singularity problem found on many individual robots. Forward and inverse position and velocity kinematics are presented for such a wrist having three degrees of freedom.

Testing of dynamic wrist joint external fixator mobility and reaction moment

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2018
For the investigation of reaction moments of wrist joint with external fixator, a test device was developed that allows a well-defined investigation of the joint loads during hand flexion movements.

Unperceivable Designs of Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Unperceivable wearable technologies seamlessly integrate into everyone's daily life, for healthcare and Internet‐of‐Things applications. By remaining completely unnoticed both visually and tactilely, by the user and others, they ensure medical privacy and allow natural social interactions.

Wrist02 -- Reliable Peripheral Oxygen Saturation Readings from Wrist-Worn Pulse Oximeters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Peripheral blood oxygen saturation Sp02 is a vital measure in healthcare. Modern off-the-shelf wrist-worn devices, such as the Apple Watch, FitBit, and Samsung Gear, have an onboard sensor called a pulse oximeter. While pulse oximeters are capable of measuring both Sp02 and heart rate, current wrist-worn devices use them only to determine heart rate ...

Nonlinear Conductive Graphene Composites for Pressure Sensing with a Linear Response and Voltage‐Driven Thermal Correction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A nonlinear conductive graphene composite (NcGc) layer, incorporating a conductive laser‐reduced graphene oxide layer, is assembled into flexible pressure sensors without microstructural designs, achieving high sensitivity (742.3 kPa−1) and a wide linear sensing range (>800 kPa).

Loading on the Scapho-Trapezium-Trapezoid joint during gripping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The scapho-trapezium-trapezoid (STT) joint is believed to be highly vulnerable to wear and has been identified clinically as a high risk joint in arthritic patients. A theoretical model [1] of the load transfer through the wrist during gripping, suggests
