Writer Identification and Verification
Writer identification and verification have gained increased interest recently, especially in the fields of forensic document examination and biometrics. Writer identification assigns a handwriting to one writer out of a set of writers. It determines whether or not a given handwritten text has in fact been written by a claimed writer.

A writer identification and verification system
Pattern Recognition Letters, 2005In this paper, we show that both the writer identification and the writer verification tasks can be carried out using local features such as graphemes extracted from the segmentation of cursive handwriting. We thus enlarge the scope of the possible use of these two tasks which have been, up to now, mainly evaluated on script handwritings.

Writer Specific Parameters for Online Signature Verification
In this work, we present a new model which is capable of handling variations in signatures for better representation by employing structure preserving feature selection method and representing the selected data in the form of interval representation ...

Evaluation of two texture descriptors (LBP and LPQ) for writer identification/verification. ? Evaluation of the dissimilarity-based approach for writer identification. ? Discussion about the number and size of the references for the dissimilarity-based approach.

Automatic signature verification and writer identification — the state of the art
Pattern Recognition, 1989Abstract This paper presents a survey of the literature on automatic signature verification and writer identification by computer, and an overview of achievements in static and dynamic approaches to solving these problems, with a special focus on preprocessing techniques, feature extraction methods, comparison processes and performance evaluation. In

Off-line writer verification based on simple graphemes
Pattern Recognition, 2018Abstract A method to writer verification based on handwritten stroke analysis is presented. The proposed descriptors correspond to an estimation of the pressure applied when writing using the grayscale image of the stroke. These descriptors are obtained from individual and simple graphemes, in contrast with the complexity of the handwritten stroke ...

Online signature verification based on writer dependent features and classifiers [PDF]
In this work, an approach for online signature verification based on writer specific features and classifier is investigated. Existing models for online signatures are generally writer independent, as a common classifier or fusion of classifier is used ...

Handwriting Analysis for Writer Verification
Ninth International Workshop on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition, 2004This communication deals with the writer verification task. This task consists in deciding whether two handwritten samples have been written by the same writer or not. Handwritings are first characterized by the graphemes that have been segmented by a segmentation procedure.
