X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) Analysis of Titanium-implanted Soft Tissue

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 2007
Tissues contacting Ti dental implants were subjected to X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis to examine the chemical state of Ti transferred from the placed implant into the surrounding tissue. Nine tissues that contacted pure Ti cover screws for several months were excised in a second surgery whereby healing abutments were set.

Measurements of photon interference X-ray absorption fine structure (πXAFS)

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2001
Experimental data are presented which demonstrate the existence of a fine structure in extended X-ray absorption spectra due to interference effects in the initial photon state (πXAFS). Interference occurs between the incident electromagnetic wave and its coherently scattered waves from neighboring atoms.

A polycrystalline diamond micro-detector for X-ray absorption fine-structure measurements

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2022
The microminiaturization of detectors used to record the intensity of X-ray beams is very favorable for combined X-ray experimental techniques. In this paper, chemical-vapor-deposited (CVD) polycrystalline diamond film was used to fabricate a micro ...

Anomalous Behavior in the Atomic Structure of Nb3Sn under High Pressure

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
In the present study, the local atomic structure of a Nb3Sn superconductor sample has been probed by X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) as a function of hydrostatic pressure (from ambient up to 26 GPa) using a diamond anvil cell set-up.

Influence of polyethylene glycol on the physical properties of Co0.2Fe2.8O4 nanoparticles used as MRI contrast agent; synchrotron radiation Fe K-edge XAFS

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
We have synthesized and characterized the surface-modified nanoparticles (NPs) of Co0.2Fe2.8O4/x polyethylene glycol (PEG) (x = 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40%).

XAFS Analysis of Sulfuric Acid Solution Related to the Effect of Bi in Suppressing the Disproportionation Reaction of Mn3+ in Mn/Ti Redox Flow Cells

open access: yesElectrochemistry, 2023
In sulfuric acid (H2SO4) aqueous solutions containing manganese (Mn) and titanium (Ti) ions, which are used for the positive electrolyte in redox flow (RF) batteries, the addition of a small quantity of bismuth (Bi) has been found to be very effective in

Generating Mechanism of Catalytic Effect for Hydrogen Absorption/Desorption Reactions in NaAlH4–TiCl3

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The hydrogen desorption and absorption reactions of the complex metal hydride NaAlH4 are disproportionation processes, and the kinetics can be improved by adding a few mol% of Ti compounds, although the catalytic mechanism, including the location and ...

X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) Studies of Oxide Glasses—A 45-Year Overview [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2018
X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) spectroscopy has been widely used to characterize the short-range order of glassy materials since the theoretical basis was established 45 years ago. Soon after the technique became accessible, mainly due to the existence of Synchrotron laboratories, a wide range of glassy materials was characterized.
