Variabilities in Be-Star Disks in Be/X-Ray Binaries

1998
We examine long-term, cyclic variabilities of the outflow in the disks of Be stars in Be/X-ray binaries in the context of the viscous decretion disk scenario. In this scenario, the matter ejected from the equatorial surface of the star with the Keplerian rotation velocity drifts outward because of viscosity and forms a disk (Lee et al. 1991).

Physics of Binary Star Evolution:From Stars to X-ray Binaries and Gravitational Wave Sources

2023
Physics of Binary Star Evolution is an up-to-date textbook on the astrophysics and evolution of binary star systems. Theoretical astrophysicists Thomas Tauris and Edward van den Heuvel cover a wide range of phenomena and processes, including mass transfer and ejection, common envelopes, novae and supernovae, X-ray binaries, millisecond radio pulsars ...

The circumstellar environments of Be stars in X-ray binaries [PDF]

open access: possible, 2000
This thesis contains results from a long-term campaign to monitor the behaviour of Be/X-ray binary systems at multiple wavelengths. The work presented in this thesis concentrates on the application of Be/X-ray binary observations to contribute to the understanding of the Be star phenomenon itself.
