Multi-Detector CT Findings of Typical and Atypical Appendicitis: A Pictorial Essay
Multi-detector CT (MDCT) is a highly accurate diagnostic tool that is commonly used to evaluate appendicitis and its complications. The diagnosis of appendicitis based on MDCT findings can be difficult and challenging when the observed findings are ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Two-view topogram-based anatomy-guided CT reconstruction for prospective risk minimization
To facilitate a prospective estimation of the effective dose of an CT scan prior to the actual scanning in order to use sophisticated patient risk minimizing methods, a prospective spatial dose estimation and the known anatomical structures are required.

Grating-Based X-Ray Computed Tomography for Improved Contrast on a Heterogeneous Geomaterial
Phase-contrast X-ray imaging has shown its potential to capture at micrometric scale and in three dimensions (3D), the structure and deformation of poorly-absorbing soft materials such as polymers and biological structures.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

In-situ Analysis of Laminated Composite Materials by X-ray Micro-Computed Tomography and Digital Volume Correlation [PDF]
The complex mechanical behaviour of composite materials, due to internal heterogeneity and multi-layered composition impose deeper studies. This paper presents an experimental investigation technique to perform volume kinematic measurements in composite ...
