Curved diffractive x-ray optics for astronomy

Optics for EUV, X-Ray, and Gamma-Ray Astronomy IX, 2019
We report on a concept for curved diffractive X-ray optics (CDXO). CDXO would enable potential new optical designs for X-ray instruments, such as a two element spectrometer, in which the secondary element of an X- ray mirror pair is patterned with an X-ray grating.

Optical properties of X-rays – dynamical diffraction

Zeitschrift für Kristallographie, 2012
The first attempts at measuring the optical properties of X-rays such as refraction, reflection and diffraction are described. The main ideas forming the basis of Ewald's thesis in 1912 are then summarized. The first extension of Ewald's thesis to the X-ray case is the introduction of the reciprocal lattice.

Diffractive And Refractive X-Ray Optics

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
We present a variety of diffractive and refractive x‐ray optics developed for imaging and microfocusing applications at synchrotron beam lines covering almost three orders of magnitude in photon energy from the EUV to hard x‐rays. For EUV radiation, soft x‐rays and the multi‐keV region, we have fabricated and tested Fresnel zone plates providing high ...

Advanced Diffractive Optics for X-ray Microscopy

Frontiers in Optics 2012/Laser Science XXVIII, 2012
Transmission X-ray microscopy relies on diffractive X-ray optics to achieve high spatial resolution for the investigation of many types of specimens, both organic and inorganic. We present several nanofabrication methods to produce high quality diffractive X-ray optics for X-ray imaging.

Optical injector of particles for X-ray diffractive imaging

2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2013
Motivated by the need for new single particle sample delivery methods to be used with coherent diffractive imaging program, an optical pipeline to produce a highly collimated stream of particles in either gaseous or vacuum environments was developed. First results to guide particles with micron-size precision in gaseous and vacuum environments using a ...

X-ray optics for emission line X-ray source diffraction enhanced systems

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2006
Abstract Diffraction-enhanced X-ray imaging (DEI) is one of a class of imaging techniques developed at a synchrotron that is based on contrast mechanisms other than absorption. This method uses perfect crystal optics to prepare and analyze beams that traverse the object imaged.

X-ray diffraction in optical microsystems technology

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
The present paper considers the use of X-Ray diffraction when applied for non destructive applications to surfaces with properties which are relevant for the qualification of the components of industrial plants or other related uses. The paper describes the most current worries related to calibration of diffractometers when they are used in ...

Diffractive–refractive optics: X-ray focusing splitter

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2019
Abstract The sagittally focusing X-ray crystal monochromator based on diffractive–refractive optics (IDL—inclined diffraction lens) is the Bartel monochromator with longitudinal parabolic grooves fabricated to its diffraction surface. It is proposed to modify the groove profile in such a way that it will be composed of two laterally displaced ...

Ultrafast Diffractive X-Ray Optics

2003
A class of x-ray optical elements is proposed that use effects of dynamical x-ray diffraction under conditions of rapidly changing structure factors to manipulate x-rays.

X-ray diffraction optical elements based on heterostructures

Optics Communications, 1988
Abstract Diffraction of X-ray spherical waves by perfect crystal and heterostructures with the reflectivity changing with the sample depth has been studied in terms of the kinematical theory. It is shown that such structures form the image of a monochromatic source at high linear resolution.
