The origin of x-ray luminescence from CdTe nanoparticles in CdTe∕BaFBr:Eu2+ nanocomposite phosphors [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2006
X-ray luminescence from CdTe nanoparticles is observed when CdTe nanoparticles are encapsulated into BaFBr:Eu2+ phosphors. In contrast, negligible x-ray luminescence is observed from the unencapsulated nanoparticles, either in solution or in solid form ...

High-resolution X-ray luminescence extension imaging

Nature, 2021
Current X-ray imaging technologies involving flat-panel detectors have difficulty in imaging three-dimensional objects because fabrication of large-area, flexible, silicon-based photodetectors on highly curved surfaces remains a challenge1-3. Here we demonstrate ultralong-lived X-ray trapping for flat-panel-free, high-resolution, three-dimensional ...

Advancing X-ray Luminescence for Imaging, Biosensing, and Theragnostics

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2022
X-ray luminescence is an optical phenomenon in which chemical compounds known as scintillators can emit short-wavelength light upon the excitation of X-ray photons. Since X-rays exhibit well-recognized advantages of deep penetration toward tissues and a minimal autofluorescence background in biological samples, X-ray luminescence has been increasingly ...

Fast X-Ray Luminescence Computed Tomography Imaging

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2014
X-ray luminescence computed tomography (XLCT) opens new possibilities to perform molecular imaging with X-ray. However, challenges remain in dynamic XLCT imaging, where short scan time, good spatial resolution, and whole-body field of view should be considered simultaneously.

X-ray induced luminescence of LiNbO3

Solid State Communications, 1981
Abstract X-ray induced luminescence has been observed in pure as well as Ni, Cu and Eu-doped LiNbO3. The emission spectrum for both, pure congruently grown and doped samples, consists of a well-defined band peaked at ≈425 nm. The shape and height of this band is also independent of the amount of radiation-induced coloring in the crystal.

X-ray stimulated luminescence in MgO

Journal of Luminescence, 1979
Studies have been made of the emission spectrum of MgO crystals induced by X-irradiation at 90 K. Two bands (half-widths ∼0.8 eV) were observed to peak at 4.95 and 3.2 eV, respectively, in high purity crystals. Doping with 100 ppm or greater of Fe, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, and Ni suppressed the luminescence, though in the MgO:Ni crystal the 2.3 eV Ni2+ band due

X-ray luminescence of AgCl crystals

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1962
Spectral composition of x-ray induced luminescence in AgCl crystals was studied. The qualitative course of radiation intensity was plotted as a function of wave length. The curve was obtained by photometric measurements on crystals from different growth groups. The curves coincide in shape and position of the main and lateral positions.

Temperature dependence of x‐ray induced luminescence from medical x‐ray screens

Medical Physics, 1987
Texts in diagnostic radiography give rules for adjustment of exposure parameters to compensate for the effect of temperature on the efficiency of film–screen combinations. These rules are appropriate for traditional phosphors, such as calcium tungstate (CaWO4) and lead barium sulfate (BaSO4:Pb) but may not be applicable to newer screens in current use ...
