Engineered MAX Phase‐Assisted Ti2AlN/TiO2 Heterostructures With Tunable Interfacial Electronic Coupling for Enhanced Photocatalytic Water Splitting Toward H2 Production

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 17, 15 September 2026.
Ti2AlN MAX phases are emerging as highly effective cocatalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. When coupled with TiO2, they establish a robust interfacial contact that accelerates electron transport and suppresses electron–hole recombination.

Thermal Evolution and Optoelectronic Properties of KH2PO4‐Modified Copper–Phosphoric Acid‐Based Geopolymers: A Multifunctional Glass‐Ceramic

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
XRD/Raman/TGA map phase changes from hydrates to AlPO4–SiO2 solid solutions up to 1000 °C. KH2PO4 improves polymerization and phase control. Combined techniques correlate structure, composition, and optics. Controlled glass‐ceramic forms at 1000 °C with high thermal stability.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 73, 10 September 2026.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Spectral and Angular Characteristics of Fast Proton-Induced Luminescence of Quartz

open access: yes, 2004
Experimental studies of the quartz luminescence during high-energy hydrogen ions bombardment are presented. The influence of observation angle and ion energy on shape of light-spectrum was investigated.

Molecular Rotors: From Newtonian Fluids to Functional Materials as Viscosity and Temperature Sensing Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 72, 7 September 2026.
Molecular rotors are fluorescent molecules that are sensitive to viscosity and temperature variations in the environment. They exhibit a direct correlation between fluorescence and viscosity within Newtonian fluids. However, this correlation becomes less straightforward in complex systems.

Solution‐Processed Mn‐Doped 2d Perovskite Wavelength Shifters for Noble‐Liquid Photon Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 74, 14 September 2026.
Solution‐processed Mn2+‐doped PEA2PbBr4 two‐dimensional perovskite films are demonstrated as large‐area wavelength shifters for noble‐liquid photon detectors. Mn2+ incorporation introduces a broad emission band at ∼620 nm with a large Stokes shift, suppressing self‐absorption and matching SiPM sensitivity.

Tailoring Light Management in All‐Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells: The Impact of Nanotextures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 76, 21 September 2026.
To further improve the power conversion efficiency of all‐perovskite tandem solar cells, light management strategies need to be implemented. Front‐sided nanotextures reduce reflection losses, which boosts light absorption, thus increasing the tandem JSC, which is further supported by reducing parasitic absorption.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Novel spectral-timing methods for X-ray binary variability studies

open access: yes, 2012
This work explores the connection between the spectral properties of the X-ray emission produced by black hole X-ray binaries (BHXRBs) and the variability properties of these sources that are embedded in light curves.
