Qualitative comparison of several phase correction algorithms in single-image in-line X-ray phase contrast tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In recent years, phase contrast has gained importance in the field of X-ray imaging and more particular in high-resolution X-ray computed tomography or micro-CT.

Improving dynamic tomography, through maximum a posteriori estimation

open access: yes, 2015
Direct study of pore-scale fluid displacements, and other dynamic (i.e. time-dependent) processes is not feasible with conventional X-ray micro computed tomography (μCT).

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

A dataset of void characteristics in multidirectional carbon fiber/epoxy composite laminates, obtained using X-ray micro-computed tomography

open access: yesData in Brief, 2019
In the current data article, we present detailed characteristics of voids in carbon/epoxy composite laminates, along with the original image stacks obtained via X-ray micro-Computed Tomography (micro-CT)1.

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Large-scale physically accurate modelling of real proton exchange membrane fuel cell with deep learning

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Accurate liquid water modelling is challenging. Here the authors use X-ray micro-computed tomography, deep learned super-resolution, multi-label segmentation, and direct multiphase simulation to simulate fuel cell and guide fuel cell design.
