X-ray optics

2003
Abstract This chapter is devoted to the applications of dynamical diffraction to X-ray optics. After a brief description of X-ray sources (tubes and synchrotron radiation), it gives the principle of the various types of monochromators and of multiple-crystal beam conditioning.

X-ray Bragg optics

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1986
X‐ray diffraction optics is being in progress towards applications of conventional methods adopted from visible light optics. When evaluating prospects of its employment it should be kept in mind that the index of reflection for X‐rays differs from unit by the magnitude of an order Δn=10−3–10−5, so that thickness t of the diffraction element is to ...

X-ray Optics

The British Journal of Radiology, 1929
In the subject of physical optics, or the study of the properties of light waves, a very interesting section deals with the employment of these waves to reveal the shapes of bodies. When a very small body is being examined by a microscope, it is illuminated by light which it scatters in all directions.

Active x-ray optics

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
There is a growing need for multiply nested large area X-ray mirrors with very fine angular resolution in future X-ray astrophysics experiments. Despite of promising results of several exploited technologies, it is not demonstrated yet that these technologies will provide the required angular resolutions of order of few arcsec.

X-ray Optics

2012
Abstract This chapter provides a detailed discussion of the interactions of electromagnetic X-ray waves with matter and the X-ray optics of refraction and reflection. The physical basis and derivation of the complex atomic scatter factor and complex refractive index for X-rays, which yield X-ray optical constants for X-ray optical elements, are ...

Diffraction-limited large X-ray optics

Journal of X-Ray Science and Technology, 1994
It is shown that the technologies required to produce large normal-incidence multilayer x-ray mirrors with diffraction-limited resolution are now available. Applications of these mirrors in x-ray astronomy and x-ray lithography are discussed.

X-ray Fourier optics

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1986
The paper deals with the coherent and incoherent production of Fourier images. Modelling experiments on obtaining Fourier images in total incoherent radiation of the visible range have carried out. The results of the experimental observation of Fourier images of two‐dimensional periodic objects in the range of ultra‐soft X‐ray radiation are reported ...
