Array-source X-ray velocimetry

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
X-ray velocimetry (XV) has shown promise for investigations into various dynamic biological systems, including the motion of lungs and the flow of blood. Prior research in the field of XV has highlighted the need for both high spatial resolution to resolve features for tracking, and temporal resolution for accurate velocity measurement.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Deep \u3cem\u3eChandra\u3c/em\u3e ACIS Survey of M83 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We have obtained a series of deep X-ray images of the nearby galaxy M83 using Chandra, with a total exposure of 729 ks. Combining the new data with earlier archival observations totaling 61 ks, we find 378 point sources within the D25 contour of the ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The Galactic Population of Magnetars: A Simulation-based Inference Study

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Population synthesis modeling of the observed dynamical and physical properties of a population is a highly effective method for constraining the underlying birth parameters and evolutionary tracks.

X-ray Polarization from Magnetar Sources

open access: yesGalaxies
The launch of the IXPE telescope in late 2021 finally made polarization measurements in the 2–8keV band a reality, more than 40 years after the pioneering observations of the OSO-8 satellite.

X-Ray and Near-Infrared Spectroscopy of Dim X-Ray Point Sources Constituting the Galactic Ridge X-Ray Emission

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings, 2014
We present the results of X-ray and Near-Infrared observations of the Galactic Ridge X-ray Emission (GRXE). We extracted 2,002 X-ray point sources in the Chandra Bulge Field (l =0°.113, b = 1°.424) down to ~10-14.8 ergscm-2s-1 in 2-8 keV band with the ...

A Chandra X-ray Study of the Globular Cluster M80

open access: yes, 2003
We report our analysis of a Chandra X-ray observation of the rich globular cluster M80, in which we detect some 19 sources to a limiting 0.5-2.5 keV X-ray luminosity of 7*10^30 ergs/s within the half-mass radius.
