Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

A Comprehensive Comparison of Spin-up and Spin-down Episodes of 4U 1538-522 Observed with NuSTAR

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
4U 1538-522 is a persistent high-mass X-ray binary that exhibits secular spin evolution. In 2019, it underwent a torque reversal from spinning up to spinning down.

Globular Cluster X-Ray Sources [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 1977
The discoveries of both steady and bursting X-ray sources in globular clusters have made them as interesting for high energy astrophysics and X-ray astronomy as they were for unlocking galactic structure in Shapley’ s day. Globular clusters are massive (˜ 105M⊙) spherical clusters of primarily low mass (⋞0.8 M⊙) evolved stars and may be the oldest ...

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Two Models for the Orbital Modulation of Gamma Rays in Cyg X-3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We model the currently available γ -ray data on Cyg X-3 from the Fermi Large Area Telescope. Thanks to Cyg X-3’s very strong γ -ray activity during 2018–2021, the data quality has significantly improved.

Compact Binary X-Ray Sources [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1986
AbstractCompact binary X-ray sources include white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes that are accreting matter from a companion star. The X-ray emission from these systems is produced by the accreting matter as it flows through an accretion disk and strikes the surface of the compact object.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Identifying critical features of iron phosphate particle for lithium preference

open access: yesNature Communications
One-dimensional (1D) olivine iron phosphate (FePO4) is widely proposed for electrochemical lithium (Li) extraction from dilute water sources, however, significant variations in Li selectivity were observed for particles with different physical attributes.

The stability of subducted glaucophane with the Earth’s secular cooling

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Along the cold subduction geotherm, glaucophane remains stable down to pressure and temperature (P–T) conditions of ca. 240 km depth, whereas under the warm subduction geotherm, it dehydrates and breaks down into pyroxenes and silica between ca.

An ASCA Study of the W51 Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present the analysis of ASCA archival data from the Galactic source W51. The ASCA spectra show that the soft (kT=2.5 keV) X-ray sources which were not seen in previous X-ray observations.
