The maximum peak luminosity of the X-ray bursts from a burster is most likely interpreted as the Eddington luminosity of a helium-rich envelope surrounding a neutron star. If this interpretation is true, we can obtain a relation between the mass and the radius of the neutron star in terms of the maximum effective temperature of bursts.

Abstract We report nine long X-ray bursts from neutron stars, detected with the Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image (MAXI). Some of these bursts lasted for hours, and hence are qualified as superbursts, which are prolonged thermonuclear flashes on neutron stars and are relatively rare events.

A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.
