Isolation of detergent resistant microdomains from cultured neurons: detergent dependent alterations in protein composition

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2010
Background Membrane rafts are small highly dynamic sterol- and sphingolipid-enriched membrane domains that have received considerable attention due to their role in diverse cellular functions.

Impact of Vanadium Addition on API X100 Steel

open access: yesISIJ International, 2014
Laboratory heats of an API X100 steel (Mn–Mo–Nb) with two levels of vanadium (0.004% and 0.063%) were melted and control rolled simulating a coiled plate production process. Extensive microstructural analyses were performed, including optical, EBSD and TEM. Texture analyses of the two alloys were also compared. Mechanical properties were determined for

Pathogenic Role of FGFR3 Autoantibodies in Small Fiber Neuropathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autoantibodies against fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) are identified as pathogenic drivers of pain in small fiber neuropathy. By binding to sensory neurons in dorsal root ganglia, FGFR3 autoantibodies activate MAPK signaling and induce hyperexcitability and mechanical hypersensitivity, establishing FGFR3 autoantibodies as a therapeutic ...

The Effects of Stimulator, Waveform, and Current Direction on Intracortical Inhibition and Facilitation: A TMS Comparison Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
Background: Cortical function is dependent on the balance between excitatory and inhibitory influences. In the human motor cortex, surrogates of these interactions can be measured in vivo, non-invasively with double-pulse transcranial magnetic ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

The Inhibition Effect of Some Organic Compounds on Corrosion of Brass and Carbon Steel in Aggressive Medium

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
The surfactants Triton X100 and Triton A20 were studied as corrosion inhibitors for brass and carbon steel type OL37 in sulfuric acid medium using potentiodynamic polarization measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), FT-IR spectroscopy

NPM1 Mediates mRNA Sorting into Extracellular Vesicles via Specific RNA Motif Binding and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NPM1 selectively sorts specific mRNAs into extracellular vesicles (EVs) by recognizing RNA motifs and forming phase‐separated condensates. These mRNA cargos—including EGFR—are then loaded via multivesicular bodies. This active sorting pathway, validated in EVs derived from both lung cancer cells and patient serum, reveals a specific mechanism for ...

Timing Mechanotransduction: Mechanically Dynamic Biomaterials Reveal the Temporal Hierarchy of YAP/TAZ Control Nodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...

The Dynamic Energy Band Model of Contact‐Separation and Sliding Mode Triboelectric Charging of Polymers at the Metal‐Polymer Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triboelectric charge generation at polymer‐metal interfaces arises from the interplay of intra‐ and inter transformation reactions of mechanochemically generated species, physical properties of polymers, environmental conditions. The direction and the magnitude of electron transfer between metal and polymer are dynamically governed by the relative ...

Potent and Selective IGF‐IIR‐Recruiting Bifunctional Molecules for Targeted Lysosomal Degradation of Extracellular and Membrane Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lysosome‐targeting chimeras (LYTACs) enable degradation of extracellular and membrane proteins via lysosomal trafficking. We report a novel IGF‐II mutant (Del1–7, Y27L) that selectively engages IGF‐IIR while avoiding IGF‐IR and IR‐A. mutIGF‐II–based LYTACs enhance target internalization and degradation and support a genetically encodable, all‐protein ...
