EBSD Study on Transverse Tensile X80 Grade Pipeline Steel

Transverse tension testing was carried out on an X80 grade linepipe to investigate the deformation behavior and the evolution of microstructure by means of SEM-EBSD (Electron Backscattered Diffraction) technique. Test results show that uniform elongation could achieve up to 7% in transverse tension for an X80 linepipe.

Recommendations on X80 steel for the design of hydrogen gas transmission pipelines

Abstract By limiting the pipes thickness necessary to sustain high pressure, high-strength steels could prove economically relevant for transmitting large gas quantities in pipelines on long distance. An overview of the manufacturing technology for high-strength pipeline steels was introduced. The microstructure and mechanical properties of X80, X100, and X120 grade steel plates and pipes were analyzed and discussed. Through the UOE simulator, the changes of mechanical properties after pipe-forming from plate to pipe were evaluated.
