Xanthones of Comastoma pedunlulatum

The xanthones in the ethyl acetate extract of Comastoma pedunlulatum were investigated. The chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques were used to isolate and identify the constituents. Nine xanthones were isolated from the active parts of the ethyl acetate portion of the 70% ethanolic extract of C.

C 13 H 8 O 2 cristallise dans P2 1 2 1 2 1 avec a=14,072, b=13,627, c=4,878A, Z=4 ; affinement jusqu'a R=0,077. La molecule est plane sauf pour l'atome O du carbonyl (0,13A hors du plan). Les cycles benzene ne sont pas des hexagones reguliers mais la distorsion est symetrique et la molecule a la symetrie C 2v approximative. Il n'y a pas de distances

Abstract1. The metabolism of xanthone by the rat has been investigated.2. The major unconjugated urinary metabolite was 4-hydroxyxanthone (24%).
