A free radical process for oxidation of hydrocarbons promoted by nonmetal xanthone and tetramethylammonium chloride under mild conditions

open access: yes, 2009
A nonmetal catalytic system consisting of N-hydroxyphthalimide, xanthone, and tetramethylammonium chloride was developed. A wide range of hydrocarbons could be oxidized efficiently with dioxygen under mild conditions.

Cytoprotective and Anti-genotoxic Effects of Xanthone Derivatives from Garcinia mangostana Against H2O2 Induced PBMC Cell and Blood Leukocytes Damage of Normal and Type 2 Diabetes Volunteers

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2018
Hyperglycemia is well-known for inducing cellular oxidative damage in type II diabetes (T2D) patients. This research addressed the cytoprotective and anti-genotoxic effect of xanthone derivatives from Garcinia mangostana against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ...

LC-QTOF-MS analysis of xanthone content in different parts of Garcinia mangostana and its influence on cholinesterase inhibition

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Mangosteen is one of the best tasting tropical fruit widely cultivated in Southeast Asia. This study aimed to quantify xanthone content in different parts of Garcinia mangostana by LC-QTOF-MS and determine its influence on their cholinesterase inhibitory

Cytotoxic Prenylated Xanthones from the Pericarps of Garcinia mangostana

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Bioassay-guided fractionation of an ethanol extract of the pericarps of Garcinia mangostana led to the isolation of two new prenylated xanthones, named 1,3,7-trihydroxy-2-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-8-(3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-xanthone (1) and 1,3,8 ...

Design, Synthesis, and Photophysical Studies of Functionalized Polyaromatic Isonitriles as Visible Light Photoredox Catalysts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A new series of structurally rich polyaromatic isonitriles is presented as photoredox catalysts. Their photophysical properties are investigated by UV–Vis absorption and fluorescence measurements, combined with experimental and theoretical studies to evaluate both ground‐ and excited‐state redox properties.

Gasdermin‐Mediated Pyroptosis: Novel Strategies Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Pyroptosis is a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer (CRC): chronic low‐grade pyroptosis promotes tumor progression, whereas acute induction of pyroptosis in cancer cells triggers antitumor immunity and enhances therapeutic response. Targeting gasdermin‐mediated pyroptosis represents a promising strategy for CRC treatment.

Hydrogen Atom Transfer Induces Photodegradation in Carbonyl‐Based Multi‐Resonance TADF Emitters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 19, 4 May 2026.
Boosting triplet harvesting in N/C═O MR‐TADF emitters unexpectedly induces rapid photodegradation under oxygen‐free conditions. Spectroscopic studies reveal that triplet excited states trigger hydrogen‐atom transfer from solvent to the carbonyl unit, driven by triplet energetics and hydrogen electrophilicity.
