Vrstna sestava aerofitskih alg na izbranih lokacijah v Sloveniji nakazuje dinamične spremembe v združbi

open access: yesNatura Sloveniae, 2008
V različnih letnih časih v letih 2005 in 2006 smo vzorčevali alge na petih različnih aerofitskih lokacijah. Za medsebojno primerjavo smo vzorčna mesta izbrali na trhlem lesu, apnenčastih skalah, betonu in prsti.

Limnochemistry and Plankton Diversity in Some High Altitude Lakes of Kashmir Himalaya

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
High altitude lakes (HALs) of Kashmir Himalaya are the important ecosystems in the mountain ecology of the broader Hindukush Himalayan region. This article provides a comprehensive information about the plankton (phytoplankton and periphyton) assemblages,

Soil algae in arable land: changes in the genotypic community composition across time points and farming systems—a pilot study

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionSoil algae, including Cyanobacteria, in the topsoils of arable land are essential for many valuable effects on soil texture and fertility. However, the constant changes and disturbances caused by agricultural practices create a challenging ...

Carotinoide der Vaucheriales Vaucheria und Botrydium (Xanthophyceae)

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung B, 1967
The carotenoids of the Vaucheriales Vaucheria and Botrydium have been investigated. Both contain the same pigments β-carotene, cryptoxanthinepoxid (traces), zeaxanthin (traces), antheraxanthin, a new xanthophyll named vaucheriaxanthin with three esterified hydroxyls and another unknown pigment.

Extending monitoring with sediment archive approaches: Comparison of biomonitoring, metabarcoding, and biomarkers to assess past phytoplankton dynamics

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 23, Issue 8, Page 578-593, August 2025.
Abstract Sedimentary archives can provide valuable insights into the study of anthropogenic impacts on marine and limnic ecosystems over centennial and millennial timescales, potentially extending the temporal breadth of observation‐based biomonitoring.

ParAquaSeq, a Database of Ecologically Annotated rRNA Sequences Covering Zoosporic Parasites Infecting Aquatic Primary Producers in Natural and Industrial Systems

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 6, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Amplicon sequencing tools such as metabarcoding are commonly used for thorough characterisation of microbial diversity in natural samples. They mostly rely on the amplification of conserved universal markers, mainly ribosomal genes, allowing the taxonomic assignment of barcodes.

Geomorphic consequences of freshwater discharge and microbial mats in a macrotidal environment: The case of the beach of Dannes (northern France)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 5, April 2025.
This transdisciplinary study analyses the geomorphic consequences of microbial mats associated with freshwater outflows in a macrotidal environment. Microorganisms were identified using the DNA metabarcoding approach. SEM analysis of quartz collected from the beach surface provided data on the marine and aeolian forces, as well as biological processes ...

Alternating Drying and Flowing Phases Control Stream Metabolism Through Short‐ and Long‐Term Effects: Insights From a River Network

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Stream metabolism is a key biogeochemical process in river networks, synthesizing the balance between gross primary production (GPP) and ecosystem respiration (ER). Globally, more rivers and streams are drying due to climate change and water abstraction for human uses and this can alter the organic carbon residence time leading to decoupled ER
