Predicting ship waves in sheltered waterways – An application of XBeach to the Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden

open access: yesCoastal Engineering, 2021
Predicting hydrodynamic forces from ship waves along a waterway is essential for managing a sustainable shoreline in fairways. In this context, a numerical model can be a useful tool for calculating ship waves in fairways with complex geometry. XBeach is

Evaluation of XBeach performance for the erosion of a laboratory sand dune

Coastal Engineering, 2017
Abstract A new set of laboratory data is used to investigate the bathymetry change of a steep sand dune exposed to waves and high water levels, and subsequently compared to the results of numerical simulations using XBeach. Bichromatic wave boundary conditions are used to simulate a combined short-wave and long-wave field for two water level ...

PREDICTING THE RESPONSE OF GRAVEL BARRIERS TO STORMS USING XBEACH

The Proceedings of the Coastal Sediments 2011, 2011
To investigate new ways to improve the prediction of gravel barrier beach erosion, XBeach, a processed-based numerical model capable of computing nearshore circulation and morphodynamics, including overwash and breaching, has been used in 1D mode to simulate: a) prototype-scale laboratory experiments; and b) storm response of a natural gravel barrier ...

COAWST-XBeach nesting strategy validation for the Celia storm at the Barceloneta beach

2023
Celia storm was an intense event that hit the NW Mediterranean Spanish coast during March 2022. During those dates a study was conducted where 2 instrumented platforms were installed, together with the gathering of high-resolution topobathymetric information at the Sant Sebastià and Sant Miquel beaches (Barcelona).
