Graphitized Carbon Xerogels for Lithium-Ion Batteries [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2019
Carbon xerogels with different macropore sizes and degrees of graphitization were evaluated as electrodes in lithium-ion batteries. It was found that pore structure of the xerogels has a marked effect on the degree of graphitization of the final carbons.

Effect of PEG on rheology and stability of nanocrystalline titania hydrosols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Very stable titania hydrosols were prepared by fast hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide in a large excess of water. XRD patterns show that these sols contain nanocrystals (5–6 nm) of anatase (70%) and brookite (30%).

Nanomaterial-Doped Xerogels for Biosensing Measurements of Xanthine in Clinical and Industrial Applications

open access: yesGels, 2023
First-generation amperometric xanthine (XAN) biosensors, assembled via layer-by-layer methodology and featuring xerogels doped with gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs), were the focus of this study and involved both fundamental exploration of the materials as ...

Thermal behavior and structural study of SiO2/Poly(ε-caprolactone) hybrids synthesized via sol-gel method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
SiO2-based organic-inorganic hybrids (OIHs) are versatile materials whose properties may change significantly because of their thermal treatment. In fact, after their preparation at low temperature by the sol-gel method, they still have reactive silanol ...

Stable hydrosols for TiO2 coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The optimum processing parameters required to synthesize, by hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide (TIP), highly stable hydrosols composed of nanoparticles of the smallest possible size, are deduced both from data available in literature and from our own ...
