Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2004
MgF2 protective and antireflective coatings have been conventionally produced by sputtering or chemical vapour deposition CVD [1, 2], but here sol-gel routes to MgF2 are explored. MgF2(M) and MgF2(E) were prepared using an alkoxide:HF:ROH mole ratio of 1:2:200 with methanol and ethanol respectively. All sols were stable for over a year.

Crystallization of TiO2 xerogel
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2020For utilization of TiO2 in advanced applications, TiO2 after thermal treatment has to be in crystalline phase of anatase, because it gives the desired (photocatalytic) properties to material. The work deals with the study of anatase crystallization in TiO2 xerogel (dried at 80 °C) which was prepared from sol in “titanium isopropoxide–isopropyl alcohol ...

Abstract The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of Mn 2+ have been used to investigate the structure of silica xerogels prepared from tetraethylorthosilicate. The measurements were made at ∼ 9.8 GHz. The probe was introduced during preparation of a sol and the EPR spectra of subsequent xerogels were measured following calcination at ...
