Discriminating Bacteria With Functionalised Nanoporous Xerogels
AbstractA new colorimetric and easy-to-use solid sensor for the detection of indole-producing bacteria is described. The sensor is a nanoporous matrix with tailored pores doped with a reactant, DMACA. The sensor turns rapidly from transparent to green-blue when exposed to metabolic indole coming from bacteria cultures, both in liquid and gas phases. An

Ultrasonic preparation of mesoporous silica using pyridinium ionic liquid [PDF]
Mesoporous silica matrices have been prepared via classic acid catalyzed and sono-catalyzed sol-gel routes. Tetramethoxysilan (TMOS) and methyl-trimethoxysilane (MTMS) were used as silica precursors, and N-butyl-3-methylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate ...

Rheological behaviour and spectroscopic investigations of cerium-modified AlO(OH)colloidal suspensions [PDF]
The rheological behaviour of aqueous suspensions of boehmite (AlO(OH)) modified with different Ce-salts (Ce(NO3)3, CeCl3, Ce(CH3COO)3 and Ce2(SO4)3) was investigated at a fixed Ce/Al molar ratio (0.05).

Sintering of Negative and Zero Thermal Expansion Phases in A2M3O12 Family: A Review
This study assesses multiple synthesis methods for A2M3O12 powders, as well as consolidation and sintering routes for preparation of monolithic A2M3O12 ceramics. Correlations between powder features, consolidation, and sintering have been discussed to enable the fabrication of high‐density A2M3O12 monoliths with fine microstructure and improved ...

Fluorescent Supramolecular Gels Based on D‐Sorbitol Derivatives
Sugar‐based fluorescent low‐molecular‐weight gelators (LMWGs) DNapS, DBTDS, and MCumS, prepared by a green, scalable route, form supramolecular gels in water, organic, and deep eutectic solvents. MCumS yields solvent‐dependent nanofibrous networks and viscoelastic injectable eutectogels.

Non-covalent immobilization of RhDuphos on carbon nanotubes and carbon xerogels [PDF]
The immobilization of the chiral complex RhDuphos, by electrostatic or π–π (adsorption) interactions, on carbon nanotubes and carbon xerogels is investigated.

This study reports a near‐infrared emitting ionic aerogel composed of cationic cyclometalated Pt(II) moieties linked by Si─O─Si bonds. The resulting porous hybrid material enables the selective detection and recovery of Au(III) ions from mixed‐metal solutions. Owing to its reversible luminescent response and thiourea‐assisted gold recovery, the aerogel
