The Genus Xiphinema (Dorylaimida) in Surinam
Nematologica, 1972Investigation of the Xiphinema material collected in Surinam by den Ouden in 1964 and by Maas in 1965-1970 showed six species to occur, four of which are new. X. filicaudatum n. sp. is characterized by a spear length of 300 μ or more and by its very long filiform tail. X. surinamense n.

Observations On Spear-Formation in Xiphinema
Nematologica, 1963The process of spear-formation in Xiphinema could be traced by studying larvae of different stages fixed while moulting. It was found that growth of the new odontostyl started during the early stages of moulting and ended before the old cuticle was entirely shed.

Nematologica, 1976During a study of Xiphinema diversicaudatum feeding on Petunia hybrida growing in agar the two main types of feeding activity, apart from penetration and retraction, were periods of oesophageal bulb pulsation and long periods of quiescence. During oesophageal bulb pulsation the nematodes were ingesting plant cell constituents.
