New Explicit Lorentzian Einstein-Weyl Structures in 3-Dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
On a $3$D manifold, a Weyl geometry consists of pairs $(g, A) =$ (metric, $1$-form) modulo gauge $\widehat{g} = {\rm e}^{2\varphi} g$, $\widehat{A} = A + {\rm d}\varphi$.

Treatment decisions and mortality in HIV-positive presumptive smear-negative TB in the Xpert® MTB/RIF era: a cohort study

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2017
Background The Xpert® MTB/RIF (XP) has a higher sensitivity than sputum smear microscopy (70% versus 35%) for TB diagnosis and has been endorsed by the WHO for TB high burden countries to increase case finding among HIV co-infected presumptive TB ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Whole-Exome Sequencing Enables Rapid Determination of Xeroderma Pigmentosum Molecular Etiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder haracterized by extreme sensitivity to actinic pigmentation changes in the skin and increased incidence of skin cancer. In some cases, patients are affected by neurological alterations. XP

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Scaling the Management of Extreme Programming Projects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
XP is a code-oriented, light-weight software engineering methodology, suited merely for small-sized teams who develop software that relies on vague or rapidly changing requirements. Being very code-oriented, the discipline of systems engineering knows it

Framing automation of driving tasks: Effects on risk perception and consumers’ understanding of different levels of vehicle automation across four European countries

open access: yesIATSS Research
Framing is the process whereby people's perception is influenced by how information is presented. In the automotive sector, well-known frames concern the names for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) which suggest higher levels of automation (e.g.,
