Conditional XPath

ACM Transactions on Database Systems, 2005
XPath 1.0 is a variable free language designed to specify paths between nodes in XML documents. Such paths can alternatively be specified in first-order logic. The logical abstraction of XPath 1.0, usually called Navigational or Core XPath, is not powerful enough to express every first-order definable path.

Conditional XPath, the first order complete XPath dialect

Proceedings of the twenty-third ACM SIGMOD-SIGACT-SIGART symposium on Principles of database systems, 2004
XPath is the W3C -- standard node addressing language for XML documents. XPath is still under development and its technical aspects are intensively studied. What is missing at present is a clear characterization of the expressive power of XPath, be it either semantical or with reference to some well established existing (logical) formalism. Core XPath (

On the Intersection of XPath Expressions

9th International Database Engineering & Application Symposium (IDEAS'05), 2006
XPath is a common language for selecting nodes in an XML document. XPath uses so called path expressions which describe a navigation path through semistructured data. In the last years some of the characteristics of XPath have been discussed. Examples include the containment of two XPath expressions p and p' (p /spl sube/ p').

Efficient XPath Evaluation

2005
Inspired by the best querying performance of ViST among the rest of the approaches in the literature, and meanwhile to overcome its shortcomings, in this paper, we present another efficient and novel geometric sequence mechanism, which transforms XML documents and XPath queries into the corresponding geometric data/query sequences. XML querying is thus

XPath with Conditional Axis Relations

2004
This paper is about the W3C standard node-addressing language for XML documents, called XPath. XPath is still under development. Version 2.0 appeared in 2001 while the theoretical foundations of Version 1.0 (dating from 1998) are still being widely studied.
