Quantifying Skin Sodium Concentration With Novel Very Rapid Biexponential T2 Relaxometry and Signal Loss Compensation Methodology

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 5, Page 2228-2239, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To accurately measure skin tissue sodium concentration (TSC) through development of spin‐3/2 relaxometry methodology that also considers blood sodium. Methods Mxy generation during RF excitation is substantially reduced by very rapid T2f.

No Consistent Evidence for Family Concordance in Eye‐Tracking‐Based Assessment of Face Engagement – A Finnbrain Birth Cohort Study

open access: yesSocial Development, Volume 35, Issue 4, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Most infants look longer at pictures of faces compared to non‐faces. This visual behavior, referred to as face engagement, may play an important role in early social‐emotional development. Previous research suggests that genetic and environmental factors influence attention to social stimuli, but whether face engagement is shared within ...

On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2408-2426, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

Müller Glia–Vasculature Interactions in the Developing Retina

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 10, October 2026.
Retinal vascular layers form normally despite loss of cholinergic retinal waves. Müller glial processes contact endothelial tip cells early and form Aquaporin‐4‐enriched endfeet. Glial endfoot calcium signals are compartmentalized and occur largely independently of neural activity. ABSTRACT Coordinated signaling among neurons, glia, and the vasculature

Multiparametric Quantitative MRI of Peripheral Nerves to Differentiate Demyelinating From Axonal Polyneuropathies

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 1077-1088, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Differentiating demyelinating from axonal polyneuropathies helps for accurate diagnosis and treatment. However, the current clinical tools lack sensitivity to confirm demyelination in peripheral nerves, particularly for proximal nerves.

Inhibition of COX‐2‐Mediated Arachidonic Acid Metabolism by FGF21‐PPARα Axis Alleviates Liver Steatosis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Under physiological conditions, the FGF21‐PPARα axis restrains COX‐2 and maintains arachidonic acid (AA) metabolic homeostasis. During steatotic liver disease, ERK1/2 phosphorylation increases alongside adaptive FGF21/PPARα activation, which is insufficient to suppress COX‐2, leading to COX‐driven AA remodeling, PGE2 accumulation, inflammation, and ...

Testicular Biopsies in Adolescent and Adult Andrological Patients: The EAA Clinical Guidelines

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 7, Page 1906-1928, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Histological evaluation of testicular tissue is central to the assessment of infertile men, particularly those at an increased risk of testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT). Traditionally, testicular biopsies have been used primarily for diagnostic purposes, such as the detection of germ cell neoplasia in situ (GCNIS). With advances in

SUBMICROSCOPIC DUPLICATION OF 8q24.3 REGION IS A POTENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR DISORDERS OF SEX DEVELOPMENT

open access: yes, 2016
Submicroscopic duplication of 8q24.3 region is a potential candidate for disorders of sex development: Some of the disorders of sex development (DSD), including 46, XX testicular DSD formerly called "XX maleness" and 46, XY DSD with partial or complete ...
