Factors affecting the mechanical behavior of Y-TZP

Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2014
The aim was to evaluate the influence of sandblasting with various propulsion pressures on the phase transformation, flexural strength and Weibull modulus of a yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline ceramic (Y-TPZ). In addition, the susceptibility of cyclic loading and low-temperature degradation under two different conditions (chemical ...

Mechanical properties of (Y-TZP) ? alumina-silicon carbide nanocomposites and the phase stability of Y-TZP particles in it

Journal of Materials Science, 1994
Al2O3-SiC-ZrO2 composites were investigated to obtain a better understanding of the effect of SiC particles and the stress-induced transformation of Y-TZP on its mechanical properties. The Al2O3-SiC-ZrO2 composites were fabricated by hot pressing using γ-Al2O3, SiC and ZrO2 mixtures.

Microstructure and micro-mechanical properties of Y-TZP and Y-TZP/Al2O3 composite after superplastic deformation

Acta Materialia, 1998
The microstructure and micro-mechanical properties of superplastically deformed Y-TZP ceramics and Y-TZP/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} composites were investigated. The grain growth on average of the pure Y-TZP ceramics during deformation at the temperature 100 C below the sintering temperature was very limited, while extensive growth of Y-TZP grains in Y-TZP ...

Oral degradation of Y-TZP ceramics

Ceramics International, 2019
Abstract The aim of this work was to study the degradation of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia (Y-TZP) directly exposed to the oral environment. Four groups of Y-TZP were tested G1: TZ-PX-242A, Zpex®; G2: TZ-PX-357, Zpex Yellow®; G3: ProtMat®, and G4: LAVA Frame®.

Densification and micro structure development of alumina/Y-TZP composite powder (Y-TZP-rich) compacts

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 1995
Abstract Al2O3/Y-TZP composite powders (Y-TZP-rich) were prepared by ball milling submicron-sized alumina and coprecipitated nano-sized Y-TZP powders. The densification behavior of the composite powder compacts is studied and it is shown that the shrinkage rate is reduced at lower temperatures and the composites continue to shrink at elevated ...

Uniaxial stress behaviour of Y-TZP

Journal of Materials Science, 1993
Uniaxial stress behaviour of yttria-tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) was investigated using a novel split Hopkinson pressure bar technique. The Y-TZP specimens were loaded by a single compressive pulse of predetermined shape and duration. The stress-strain response of the material revealed a linear elastic regime followed by an inelastic regime ...

Biaxial stretching of superplastic Y -TZP, Y -TZP/Al2O3, and Y -TZP/LAS glass composites in air atmosphere

Journal of Materials Research, 1998
The biaxial stretching behavior of superplastic Y -TZP (yttria -tetragonal zirconia polycrystals) ceramics and Y -TZP/Al2O3 composites in air atmosphere was investigated. Stretching deformation can be made within a limited range. Larger grain size of Y -TZP led to higher applied load needed to obtain the same amount of deformation.

Reliability and Properties of Ground Y-TZP-Zirconia Ceramics

Journal of Dental Research, 2002
Yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramics is a high-performance material with excellent biocompatibility and mechanical properties, which suggest its suitability for posterior fixed partial dentures. The hypothesis under examination is that the strength and reliability of Y-TZP zirconia ceramics are affected by the inner surface grinding of crowns, and vary ...

CAD/CAM-machining effects on Y-TZP zirconia

Dental Materials, 2004
Computer-Aided-Design/Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) techniques are gaining importance in fabricating crowns and fixed partial dentures (FPDs) made of yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP). The specific aims of this study were (1) to test the hypothesis that surface flaws and microcracks are induced by the grinding of ...
