Flexible 3D‐Printed Cellulosic Constructs for EMI Shielding and Piezoresistive Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a method for fabricating lightweight, conductive, and compressible 3D‐printed structures from CNFs. By using ion‐seeded 3D printing and cold chemical vapor polymerization, PEDOT/CNF frameworks with electrical conductivity and compressibility are produced.

Evaluating the effectiveness of physical exercise in improving standardized testing performances through attention indices

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Graphical Abstract Paired‐samples t‐tests showed that after exercise, subjects displayed increased reading speed and fewer eye drifts, coupled with increased mean scores. This study demonstrated that running, an acute, coordinative, aerobic exercise, improves attention and increases the testing performance of the SAT reading.

High-resolution Emission Spectroscopy of the Ultrahot Jupiter KELT-9b: Little Variation in Day- and Nightside Emission Line Contrasts

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
The transmission spectrum of the ultrahot Jupiter KELT-9b ( T _eq ∼ 4000 K) exhibits absorption by several metal species. We searched for atomic and molecular lines in its emission spectrum by observing partial phase curves with the Calar Alto high ...

Improving Light Outcoupling and Addressing Measurement Specifics in Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Light Management Foils

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
The necessity and feasibility of enhancing light outcoupling in perovskite light‐emitting diodes (PeLEDs) is highlighted. On near‐IR PeLEDs, low‐cost, micro‐textured light management (LM) foils demonstrate boost in light extraction. Optimizing perovskite thickness and the optical cavity in synergy with LM foils is crucial for maximizing performance ...

Impact investing in biodiversity conservation with bonds: An analysis of financial and environmental risk

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 353-368, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Impact investments have the dual goals of generating profit and environmental and/or social impact from the same project or enterprise. This article examines recent impact investments in biodiversity conservation—specifically, debt finance in the form of conventional bonds and impact bonds.

unTimely: a Full-sky, Time-domain unWISE Catalog

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We present the unTimely Catalog, a deep time-domain catalog of detections based on Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and NEOWISE observations spanning the 2010 through 2020 time period. Detections are extracted from “time-resolved unWISE coadds,”

Discovery of Three Distant, Cold Brown Dwarfs in the WFC3 Infrared Spectroscopic Parallels Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present the discovery of three late type (>T4) brown dwarfs, including a probable Y dwarf, in the WFC3 Infrared Spectroscopic Parallels (WISP) Survey. We use the G141 grism spectra to determine the spectral types of the dwarfs and derive distance estimates based on a comparison with nearby T dwarfs with known parallaxes.

The Awakening Brain is Characterized by a Widespread and Spatiotemporally Heterogeneous Increase in High Frequencies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work explores the process of morning awakening of the human brain using polysomnography paired with simultaneous stereo‐electroencephalography, a method that provides high spatial and temporal resolution for examining brain activity. Awakening is characterized by an increase in high‐frequency spectral power and connectivity.

In Vivo Reprogramming of Tissue‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles for Treating Chronic Tissue Injury Through Metabolic Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by exercise‐induced metabolic rewiring and EV secretion, this study shows that in vivo metabolic engineering strategy can reprogram EV secretion pattern and simultaneously attenuate multiple tissue injury in CKD status, highlighting that it is a potential strategy for treating diverse chronic diseases.

Wood Biomolecules as Agricultural Adjuvants for Effective Suppression of Droplet Rebound from Plant Foliage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lignin and hemicellulose are used to develop agricultural adjuvants to decrease agrochemical run‐off from foliage, by suppressing droplet rebound and enhancing adhesion of aqueous solutions on plant leaves. The wood components combine surface activity with surface pinning effects and to improve by tenfold the droplet rebound in citrus leaves ...
