YAG Laser Treatment of Tinea Pedis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A clinical experiment on the treatment of tinea pedis infections (common as an athlete’s foot) was conducted using a pulsed Nd-YAG laser with an output energy of 0.5 joule/pulse and duration of 1 millisecond.

Luminescence and Photochromism in Lanthanide‐Doped Hackmanites

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 23, 19 June 2026.
Lanthanide‐doped lithium hackmanite derivatives are prepared utilizing a doped LiAlSiO4 precursor to modify luminescent and photochromic properties. Upon UV excitation, europium doping results in green Eu2+ persistent luminescence from shallow traps. Contrarily, samarium doping induces unusual near‐infrared photochromism.

Fundamental study of YAG laser processing of various ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes
In this study, YAG laser beams with energies of about 3.8 J/shot for cutting and 6.05 J/shot for welding were applied to various ceramics such as oxides, nitrides, carbides, borides and their composites.

Cells Dynamically Adapt Their Nuclear Volumes and Proliferation Rates During Single to Multicellular Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Design Of A Self-injected Unstable Cavity Nd: Yag Laser

open access: yes, 2015
A detailed analysis of a self-injected Nd: YAG laser with an unstable cavity is presented. With respect to the normal Q-switched laser-mode operation the pulse peak power is increased by a factor of eight with a pulse length of about 1 ns.

Aluminum‐Substituted Yttrium Iron Garnet Films With Perpendicular Anisotropy Grown on Silicon by Sputtering

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 12, 22 June 2026.
Ultrathin Al‐substituted YIG films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy are sputter‐grown directly on Si/SiOx using an ultrathin AlOx buffer layer. Al diffusion reduces the saturation magnetization and stabilizes PMA via magnetoelastic effects. Pt/Al:YIG bilayers exhibit strong spin Hall magnetoresistance and efficient spin–orbit torque switching ...

Dual-pulse laser induced breakdown spectroscopy in the vacuum ultraviolet with ambient gas: spectroscopic analysis and optimization of limit of detection of carbon and sulfur in steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectral region was applied to standard steel samples in dual-pulse excitation mode with an ambient gas. Two lasers were employed in collinear geometry, one as an ablation laser (

Multiple-beam output, high-peak power passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG laser for ignition application - Modeling of laser pulse characteristics and thermal behavior

open access: yesResults in Engineering
In this work we report on the characteristics of a passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG laser with four beams, developed for studies on the laser ignition of different combustible mixtures.
