Performances of lactating yaks on silage and complete feed block based feeding regiments

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2016
An experiment was conducted on lactating yaks at Nyukmadung farm under ICAR. Lactating yaks (16) of uniform age and parity (second and third) and body weights were randomly divided into groups T1, T2, T3 and T4 of 4 animals each and fed individually for

Diagnostic Odyssey of Atypical Long‐Chain 3‐Hydroxyacyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (LCHADD) Explained by Three Allelic Products From Two Pathogenic Variants

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Long‐chain 3‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (LCHADD) is an autosomal recessive mitochondrial defect of long‐chain fatty acid β‐oxidation, caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in HADHA or HADHB. We report a 22‐year‐old male with an atypically mild presentation of LCHADD who was referred to the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN ...

Response of an Infant With Presumed Multiple Acyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MADD) to Ketone Supplementation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multiple Acyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MADD) is an autosomal recessive inborn error of metabolism caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in one of three known genes: ETFA, ETFB, and ETFDH. It can cause multisystem dysfunction, including cardiomyopathy in severe cases.

Whole-genome resequencing reveals genetic diversity, differentiation, and selection signatures of yak breeds/populations in southwestern China

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
The Sichuan-Yunnan region is the main production area of yaks in southwestern China, with rich genetic resources of Yaks. Nevertheless, there have been limited study on the genetic characteristics of the entire yak populations in Tibet and southwestern ...

Exosome‐mediated gut–brain axis signaling in neurodegenerative diseases: Mechanisms, experimental evidence, and therapeutic perspectives—A narrative review

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The gut–brain axis is a bidirectional communication network between the intestines and brain, mediated by gut microbiota and exosomes, that regulates neuroinflammation, protein aggregation, and neuronal health processes central to neurodegenerative diseases.

Identification of candidate genes related to hybrid sterility by genomic structural variation and transcriptome analyses in cattle-yak

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Hybrids between closely related but genetically incompatible species are often inviable or sterile. Cattle-yak, an interspecific hybrid of yak and cattle, exhibits male-specific sterility, which limits the fixation of its desired traits and prevents ...

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of golden wild yak and revealed its phylogenetic relationship with 9 yak subspecies

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Golden wild yak is a rare and unique Yak subspecies in China. In this study, we first identified the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of golden wild yak.

Effects of climate change on yak production at high altitude

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2016
Yak is considered the life-line of highland pastoral nomads who raise them on high altitude ranges under transhumance. Yak production at high-altitude alpine ranges may be affected due to the gradual increase of environmental temperature as a result of ...

The Future of Yak Farming from the Perspective of Yak Herders and Livestock Professionals

open access: yesSustainability, 2020
The declining number of yak farming families is perceived as a socio-political and economic concern in Bhutan. However, there is limited understanding of what influences herders’ plans and decisions on yak farming. We studied factors determining future perspectives of yak farming by interviewing yak herders and livestock professionals.

A Chiral Saddle‐Shaped Nanographene With Two Heptagon‐Embedded [4]Helicenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We present a novel synthetic strategy toward a chiral saddle‐shaped nanographene (cSNG) via a two‐step oxidation of a prochiral anthracene precursor. The Scholl‐type oxidation first yields a key intermediate with sp3‐defect heptagons, and subsequent oxidative dehydrogenation affords fully conjugated cSNG.
