YELLOW FEVER VIRUS

Science, 1929
The observations of Stokes, Bauer and Hudson1thatMacacus rhesuscan be easily inoculated with the virus of yellow fever in Africa and that this disease is not due toLeptospira icteroidesNoguchi, have stimulated renewed interest in research on yellow fever in America, where most of the classic studies on this disease have been made.

Sequencing of Yellow Fever Virus

The yellow fever virus (YFV) is a single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus with a genome of approximately 11 kb. Currently, seven strains have been described: five in Africa (West Africa I and II, East Africa, East/Central Africa, and Angola) and two in the Americas (South America I and II).

Expression of the yellow fever virus envelope protein using hybrid SV40/yellow fever viruses

Annales de l'Institut Pasteur / Virologie, 1988
The cDNA coding for the yellow fever virus (YFV) envelope protein (E) was inserted into an SV40 vector under the control of the late promoter in place of the VP1 gene. The recombinant virus expressed a 52-Kd polypeptide which was detected by immunoprecipitation with a monoclonal antibody raised against the E protein.

Yellow Fever Virus Production in Bioreactor

On a commercial scale, the vaccine against yellow fever is based on replication of the attenuated virus in embryonated eggs [2]. A very promising alternative platform to the production of the virus in eggs, which has spread as a worldwide trend, is production using mammalian cell lines.

Conventional RT-PCR for Yellow Fever Virus

The yellow fever virus (YFV), prototype of the genus Orthoflavivirus (family Flaviviridae), contains a positive-sense RNA genome that is translated as a single polyprotein which comprises approximately 11,000 nucleotides, encoding 3411 amino acids. In recent years, a number of molecular assays have been reported for YFV RNA detection, with different ...
