Large Obstructive Left Atrial Myxoma in an Adolescent Girl Presenting With Stroke

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Pediatric cardiac myxomas are rare but may present with embolic stroke and rapidly progress to life‐threatening hemodynamic obstruction. Ischemic stroke with a suspected embolic source in children should prompt echocardiographic evaluation. Early recognition and urgent surgical management are critical to prevent obstruction, embolization, and ...

Hepatic HIF2α Modulates Extra‐Hepatic Disease‐Associated Phenotypes During Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
High fat, high fructose, high cholesterol “GAN” diet feeding in mice induces MASLD, cardiac dysfunction, loss of lean mass, and hyperinsulinaemia. Hepatocyte‐specific deletion of HIF2α also causes cardiac dysfunction and loss of lean mass but prevents GAN induced hyperinsulinaemia and cardiac sympathetic dominance without preventing MASLD.

A single‐cell census of pulmonary endarterectomies tissue across different anatomical regions in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study provides the first intra‐individual, regional single‐cell comparison of main/lobar versus bifurcate pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) specimens. It reveals distinct macrophage polarisation, divergent T‐cell compositions and pronounced smooth muscle cell (SMC)‐to‐myofibroblast transition in the bifurcate region. These findings highlight regional

Congenital Lung Malformations in Neonates: A 9‐Year Tunisian Cohort Highlighting Diagnostic Challenges and Outcomes in a Resource‐Limited Setting

open access: yesPediatric Pulmonology, Volume 61, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Congenital lung malformations (CLMs) represent a broad spectrum of developmental anomalies with highly variable prenatal and postnatal presentations and outcomes. Their postnatal management remains non‐standardized. This study aimed to describe the spectrum of bronchopulmonary malformations diagnosed in the neonatal period, assess ...

Squills vs. Hyacinths – A revised genus delimitation in Hyacinthinae (Hyacintheae, Scilloideae, Asparagaceae) based on phylogenomics

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Scilla s.l. (Asparagaceae: Scilloideae) represents a notable Mediterranean geophyte radiation, yet genus delimitation in subtribe Hyacinthinae has long suffered from inconsistent and conflicting generic concepts. A limited set of informative morphological characters and recurrent shifts in circumscription have repeatedly hindered progress ...

Boldness and niche width structure spatial interactions in a natural rodent community

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 10, Page 1999-2012, October 2026.
We show that individual behavioural differences (boldness) structure spatial encounter patterns within a natural multi‐species community. By linking personality to space use and interaction structure, our study demonstrates how intraspecific variation can scale up to shape community‐level processes.

Hepatocyte Growth Hormone Receptor Ablation Is Associated With Aging Phenotypes and Hepatic Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
Hepatocyte‐specific GHR ablation is associated with hepatic and age‐related pathologies, triggering adipose‐liver crosstalk via elevated circulating GH and subsequent CD36‐dependent hepatic steatosis. This loss impairs STAT5b phosphorylation and enhances PPARγ nuclear activation, upregulating Pdk4 and Cd36 to drive mitochondrial dysfunction and ectopic
