Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Electrostatic Superlattices Beyond 1:1 Stoichiometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer‐mediated charge regulation drives two hierarchical routes to higher‐stoichiometry nanoparticle superlattices. Tuning the polymer's molecular weight promotes progressive interstitial filling, transforming ZnS into the fully occupied CaF2${\rm CaF}_2$ lattice. Exchanging polymer assignment between large and small nanoparticles instead breaks CsCl

Binary‐to‐Ternary Reconfigurable Transistors Using Plasma‐Assisted MoS2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A binary‐to‐ternary reconfigurable transistor is demonstrated using a dual‐gated molybdenum disulfide homojunction with localized O2 plasma treatment. The device exhibits on/intermediate and intermediate/off current ratios of 102 and 104, respectively, and the intermediate state is electrically tunable in the ternary mode.

Bioinspired Co‐Assembly Enables Multiscale Architected Hydrogels for 3D Printing With Integrated Antibacterial and Bioactive Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multicomponent supramolecular hydrogel integrating cell‐adhesive and antibacterial peptides within an alginate‐cellulose nanofibril matrix is developed. Peptide co‐assembly simultaneously strengthens the hydrogel network, improves extrusion printability, and imparts cell‐adhesive and antibacterial functions, offering a versatile platform for ...

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Hypoxia, acidification and nutrient accumulation in the Yellow Sea Cold Water of the South Yellow Sea

Science of the Total Environment, 2020
Hypoxia and acidification in coastal waters are of global concern. However, the complex hydrodynamic processes and human interferences are major challenges for the diagnosis of their mechanism. The role of seasonal water masses involved still remains unknown.

A review of the green tides in the Yellow Sea, China

Marine Environmental Research, 2016
The recurrent green tide of Ulva prolifera caused serious ecological problems in the Yellow Sea and attached substantial scientific study. The bloom originated in the Subei Shoal area and drifted to the coast of Shandong Province during the period from May to July, driven by a series of physical processes. Here we reviewed advances in the understanding

Dynamics of euphotic zone depth in the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea

Science of The Total Environment, 2021
Euphotic zone depth (Zeu) plays an important role in studies of marine biogeochemical processes and ecosystems. Remote sensing techniques are ideal tools to investigate Zeu distributions because of their advanced observation ability with broad spatial coverage and frequent observation intervals.

Influence of the Yellow Sea Warm Current on phytoplankton community in the central Yellow Sea

Deep Sea Research Part I: Oceanographic Research Papers, 2015
In early spring, a hydrological front emerges in the central Yellow Sea, resulting from the intrusion of the high temperature and salinity Yellow Sea Warm Current (YSWC). The present study, applying phytoplankton pigments and flow cytometry measurements in March of 2007 and 2009, focuses on the biogeochemical effects of the YSWC.

Geohazards in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea

Offshore Technology Conference, 1985
ABSTRACT Shallow submarine geology in the Yellow and East China seas is dicta ted mostly by the proximity of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers and by the late Quaternary history of the area. Most serious potential geological hazards (buried channels throughout the area, shallow gas in areas with high rates of modern ...
