Analysis of Yellow Sea circulation

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 2003
Some features of the circulation in the Yellow Sea (hereafter referred to as YS) in the cold season (mid-November through mid-April) are analyzed emphatically by using the observations of several large-scale surveys in recent years together with historical data.

Response of Turbot Scophthalmus maximus (Linnaeus, 1758) to Imbalanced Branched-Chain Amino Acids in Diets

open access: yesFishes, 2023
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of imbalanced dietary BCAAs, especially Leu, on the growth and BCAA metabolism in turbot. A control diet was formulated by keeping optimum levels of Leu, Ile and Val.

TIDAL COMPUTATIONS FOR THE YELLOW SEA

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1986
A two-dimensional numerical model of the Yellow Sea has been used to compute cotidal and coamplitude charts and harmonic constants of tidal currents for the four major tidal constituents M2, S2, Ki, Oi tides in the region with the mesh resolution of 1/5 degree latitude by 1/4 degree longitude finite difference grid system.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of smoothshell shrimp Parapenaeopsis tenella (Bate, 1888) (Crustacea: Decapoda: Penaeidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of smoothshell shrimp Parapenaeopsis tenella was determined for the first time. The mitogenome of P. tenella is 15,893 bp in length and encodes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Shiba shrimp Metapenaeus joyneri (Miers, 1880) (Decapoda: Penaeidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
The Shiba shrimp Metapenaeus joyneri is a commercially important species in China, Korea, and Japan. Thus far, genetic information, which is essential for the sustainable management of the resource, is quite limited for this species.
