Correlation of Virulence Plasmid and Serological Tests of Human Yersinia enterocolitica Isolates
Pathogenicity of nine human Yersinia enterocolitica isolates of Iran were tested by serological tests and molecular approaches. Of these nine isolates two harbored a plasmid (1478 & 1479).

Inappropriate captive diet can threaten the survival of confiscated primates from illegal trading. Two confiscated juvenile capped langurs developed severe diet‐induced bloat following prolonged fruit‐predominant in captive feeding. A multimodal treatment consisting of simethicone, antimicrobial therapy, supportive abdominal massage and dietary ...

Analysis of 3800-year-old Yersinia pestis genomes suggests Bronze Age origin for bubonic plague
Yersinia pestis has caused infections (plague) in humans since the Early Bronze Age (5000 years ago). Here, Spyrou et al. reconstruct Y. pestis genomes from Late Bronze Age individuals, and find genomic evidence compatible with flea-mediated transmission

ABSTRACT Ectoparasites that penetrate host skin can act as biological or mechanical vectors for pathogens and, in some cases, serve as reservoirs. Crustacean ectoparasites of fish are potential vectors of pathogens, which is especially relevant for obligate pathogens (e.g., Aeromonas salmonicida) with limited seawater survival. Sea lice (Lepeophtheirus

Syndromic convergence (SyCo) reframes aquaculture disease as the synergistic product of climate‐driven stressors, pathobiome communities, and host immune compromise, not single pathogens. A five‐criterion scoring matrix, composite early warning index, and three‐layer intervention framework together operationalize this shift toward predictive ...

ABSTRACT Stress hormones released during aquaculture handling and environmental disturbances can influence host–pathogen interactions, yet their effects on marine bacterial pathogens remain largely unexplored. This study examined how the stress hormone epinephrine affects the virulence of Vibrio alginolyticus isolated from diseased red drum (Sciaenops ...
