Dynamic interaction of the Yersinia pseudotuberculosis type three secretion system proteins LcrV and LcrG. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract Yersinia pathogenicity is dependent on polarized translocation of effector proteins via the type III secretion system (T3SS). The tip complex situated on the needle structure of the T3SS is required for contact with the eukaryotic host membrane and is to an extent composed of pentameric LcrV. LcrV is a multifunctional protein that also acts as

Aerobactin-Mediated Iron Acquisition Enhances Biofilm Formation, Oxidative Stress Resistance, and Virulence of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Aerobactin is a citrate-hydroxamate siderophore that is critical for the virulence of pathogenic enteric bacteria. However, although the aerobactin-producing iucABCD-iutA operon is distributed widely in the genomes of Yersinia species, none of the ...

γδ T cell IFNγ production is directly subverted by Yersinia pseudotuberculosis outer protein YopJ in mice and humans.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2021
Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is a foodborne pathogen that subverts immune function by translocation of Yersinia outer protein (Yop) effectors into host cells. As adaptive γδ T cells protect the intestinal mucosa from pathogen invasion, we assessed whether

IscR is essential for yersinia pseudotuberculosis type III secretion and virulence. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2014
Type III secretion systems (T3SS) are essential for virulence in dozens of pathogens, but are not required for growth outside the host. Therefore, the T3SS of many bacterial species are under tight regulatory control. To increase our understanding of the

Low prevalence of human enteropathogenic Yersinia spp. in brown rats (Rattus norvegicus) in Flanders. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Brown rats (Rattus norvegicus) have been identified as potential carriers of Yersinia enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis, the etiological agents of yersiniosis, the third most reported bacterial zoonosis in Europe.

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY ON YERSINIOSIS IN PEDIATRIC ACUTE DIARRHEA [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal, 2006
Yersiniosis is considered one of the most important bacterial foodborne infections as their incidence among humans had increased dramatically. A total of one hundred and fifty random samples were collected from children with acute diarrhea.

Type VI Secretion Systems Present New Insights on Pathogenic Yersinia

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2018
The type VI secretion system (T6SS) is a versatile secretion system widely distributed in Gram-negative bacteria that delivers multiple effector proteins into either prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells, or into the extracellular milieu.

Yersinia pseudotuberculosis in China [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, 1995
AbstractThirty strains of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis were isolated from rabbits (17 strains), wild rats (9 strains) and house rats (4 strains) in China between 1990 and 1993. The biochemical properties of these isolates were identical with those of Y. pseudotuberculosis and no special characteristics were found in these strains.

Iron availability and oxygen tension regulate the Yersinia Ysc type III secretion system to enable disseminated infection.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2019
The enteropathogen Yersinia pseudotuberculosis and the related plague agent Y. pestis require the Ysc type III secretion system (T3SS) to subvert phagocyte defense mechanisms and cause disease.
