IMPACT OF WEATHER CONDITIONS ON CEREAL YIELDS IN POLAND

open access: yesZagadnienia Ekonomiki Rolnej / Problems of Agricultural Economics
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of weather factors on the yield of selected cereals in the context of ongoing climate change. The study used variables specifying factors such as temperature, precipitation, as well as control variables, which were the share of medium and heavy soils in a given province and the consumption of mineral ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Plant traits to complement selection based on yield components in wheat

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2005
The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between plant traits and yield per spike in wheat genotypes. The measured plant traits were: length of flag leaf blade, peduncle extrusion, peduncle, spike and sheath, culm diameter and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Excessive lipid contents in immature oocytes from repeat breeder dairy heifers

open access: yes, 2006
The repeat breeding problem in cattle is widespread among all the heavy dairy breeds in cattle and is being considered as a major problem throughout the world. The aetiology of the repeat breeding is of various origins.

Differentiable production and condition indices of premigrant eels (Anguilla anguilla) in two Atlantic coastal catchments of France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper assesses potential production of premigrant European eels Anguilla anguilla based on analysis of sedentary eel populations in two small river systems in western France that are in close proximity.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Tresca's or Mises' Yield Condition in Pressure Vessel Design

open access: yes, 2005
FENET Workshop Annex B of CEN's Unfired Pressure Vessel Standard, EN 13445-3, Direct Route for Design by Analysis, addresses failure modes directly in corresponding design checks, and avoids, therefore, stress categorisation, which is the traditional ...
