The Influence of Environmental Heterogeneity on Fertilization-Driven Patterns of Distribution and Yield in Medicinal Plants

open access: yesAgronomy
Medicinal plant production is essential for global health, yet how temperature, precipitation, and soil properties influence yield responses to fertilization remains poorly understood.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Construction of an evenly-distributed genetic map using contig-tag-SNPs for quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis of fiber-related traits in kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.)

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
Kenaf is one of the most important natural fiber crops worldwide, which aims at harvesting bast fiber. Mining QTL loci of fiber yield and quality traits will facilitate fiber improvement and molecular marker-assisted breeding in kenaf.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Vision-based preharvest yield mapping for apple orchards

open access: yesComputers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2019
We present an end-to-end computer vision system for mapping yield in an apple orchard using images captured from a single camera. Our proposed system is platform independent and does not require any specific lighting conditions. Our main technical contributions are 1)~a semi-supervised clustering algorithm that utilizes colors to identify apples and 2)~

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Cross-species bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library screening via overgo-based hybridization and BAC-contig mapping of a yield enhancement quantitative trait locus (QTL) yld1.1 in the Malaysian wild rice Oryza rufipogon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The construction of BAC-contig physical maps is an important step towards a partial or ultimate genome sequence analysis. Here, we describe our initial efforts to apply an overgo approach to screen a BAC library of the Malaysian wild rice species, Oryza ...
