An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Logarithmic corrected Polynomial $f(R)$ inflation mimicking a cosmological constant

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we consider an inflationary model of $f(R)$ gravity with polynomial form plus logarithmic term. We calculate some cosmological parameters and compare our results with the Plank 2015 data.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Unravelling Yield and Yield-Related Traits in Soybean Using GGE Biplot and Path Analysis

open access: yesAgronomy
Soybean (Glycine max) is a vital crop for food, animal feed, and industrial products. However, its yield performance is significantly affected by genotype-by-environment interaction (GEI), which complicates the selection of high-yielding, stable ...

Ertragsstabilität im Ökolandbau: Wo steht die Forschung? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Despite the importance of yield stability in organic agriculture, little quantitative information is currently available on the factors limiting stability or on optimal approaches for improving it.

Yield Stability Differences Among Collard Cultivars

open access: yesHortScience, 1989
Abstract Eight collard (Brassica oleracea L. Acephala Group) cultivars were evaluated for phenotypic yield stability during 4 years in northern Florida. A cultivar, characterized as possessing stability, performed above average yield in both favorable and unfavorable environments, with minimal deviations between environments.

Higher species richness enhances yield stability in intensively managed grasslands with experimental disturbance

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Climate models predict increased frequency and severity of drought events. At an Irish and Swiss site, experimental summer droughts were applied over two successive years to grassland plots sown with one, two or four grassland species with contrasting ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

STABILITY OF WHEAT GENOTYPES ADAPTED IN TROPICAL MEDIUM AND LOWLAND

open access: yesAGRIVITA Journal of Agricultural Science, 2012
The research objective was to select wheat genotypes that can adapt on the medium and low plains. Twenty-seven genotypes and three varieties of wheat were grown in four locations in the medium and low plains since June-October 2009.
