Intermittent flow in yield-stress fluids slows down chaotic mixing
In this article, we present experimental results of chaotic mixing of Newtonian uids and yield stress fluids using rod-stirring protocol with rotating vessel.

Mechanical noise dependent Aging and Shear Banding behavior of a mesoscopic model of amorphous plasticity [PDF]
We discuss aging and localization in a simple "Eshelby" mesoscopic model of amorphous plasticity. Plastic deformation is assumed to occur through a series of local reorganizations.

On yield stress of compacted clays
Artificial compaction is a commonly practiced ground improvement technique around the world. Yield stress is an important parameter to quantify and analyze the strength and compressibility behavior of the artificially compacted clays; such materials are ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Consistent plane stress-3D conversion of hardening models and yield criteria [PDF]
Material models in FE-simulations are used both in 3D and plane stress situations. In this\ud paper it is shown that for models that include kinematic hardening, the conversion from a 3D to a plane\ud stress algorithm needs more adaptations than only ...

Meta-analysis of drought and heat stress combination impact on crop yield and yield components.
Episodes of prolonged drought coupled with heat waves (i.e., drought and heat combination) can have a devastating impact on agricultural production and crop yield.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Yield and Environmental Stress
Abstract Plant development is affected by physical stresses of all kinds. The most sensitive time is during anthesis and early fruit growth, when reproductive structures may fail to develop or embryos may abort. Water limitation can cause both effects, and explanatory theories are based on turgor, photosynthate availability, or hormonal relationships ...

Impact of water deficit stress in maize: Phenology and yield components
Fifteen million farmers in India engaged in Maize cultivation. India would require 45 MMT of Maize by 2022. But, only 15% of cultivated area of maize is under irrigation and water shortage has been a challenge for sustainability of maize production ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
