The increase of the yield stress vs. the magnetic field is the most important quantity characterizing the efficiency of a magnetorheological suspension. The theory based on the formation of columnar aggregates predicts a linear variation with the volume ...

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Evaluation of Techniques for Measuring the Yield Stress of a Magnetorheological Fluid
The yield stress of a magnetorheological fluid was measured as a function of magnetic flux density using different techniques. The yield stress values were determined by extrapolating the experimental shear stress-shear rate data to zero shear rate with ...

Plastic deformation mechanism of hypoid gears
Hypoid gears are used as the final reduction gear of vehicles to transmit and change direction torque. Plastic deformation of a hypoid gear tooth flank occurs when a load exceeding the yield stress acts on the tooth surface.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Rheological Properties of Heavy Crude Oil Containing Sand From Bo-Hai Oilfield in China
This paper presents an experimental study on the rheological properties of heavy crude oil containing sand to determine the effects of sand size distribution and mass concentration on apparent viscosity, thixotropic behavior, yield stress and ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Dynamic Shear Deformation in Zinc Crystals [PDF]
The initial stages of yielding in single crystals of zinc have been investigated at temperatures of -292°F (-180°C), -93°F (-70°C) and +75°F (24°C), by means of rapidly applied constant stress pulses to produce slip along the basal planes of these ...

Measurement Errors in Yield Stress Rheometry that Arise from Torque Auto Zero
The measurement of the shear rheology of concentrated particulate suspensions is important to a range of mixing, pumping and flow operations. The use of a four or six bladed vane attached to a rheometer in an open cup is a popular technique to achieve a ...
