A virtual surface concept for nested yield surface plasticity
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1992AbstractA return mapping algorithm based on the concept of virtual surfaces is presented for stress integration in the numerical solution of boundary value problems using an elastoplastic multiple yield surface model. Both kinematic hardening and isotropic softening yield surfaces are addressed.

An experimental investigation concerning yield surfaces and loading surfaces
Acta Mechanica, 1977This paper presents the results of experiments concerning the motion of the yield and the loading surfaces and the interrelation between these two motions. It is shown that the yield surface tends to become tangent to the loading surface, and that the plastic strain vector is normal to the yield surface.

Yield surfaces for anisotropic plates
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000Aerospace systems are incorporating composite materials into their structures. The composite materials are often anisotropic in mechanical response due to their geometric layout. For many years, the failure surfaces of anisotropic materials were thought to be characterizable by a quadratic function in the stress, referred to as a Tsai-Wu yield surface,

Yield Estimation from Surface-wave Amplitudes
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2001Surface-wave amplitudes from explosion sources show less variation for a given event than body wave amplitudes, so it is natural to expect that yield estimates derived from surface waves will be more accurate than yield estimates derived from body waves.

ANISOTROPIC YIELD SURFACES IN CYCLIC PLASTICITY
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1983Abstract— An anisotropic form of the Von Mises yield criteria is presented which includes linear terms and therefore enables Bauschinger effects to be considered when constructing yield or loading surfaces. The coefficients representing the state of anisotropy are expressed in terms of the uni‐axial and shear yield stress of the material.

Yield surfaces for perforated plates
Engineering Computations, 1988A method is presented by which elastoplastic constitutive relations for the solid material equivalent to a perforated plate can be obtained, by performing numerical experiments employing the finite element method. The method is applied to a plate of elastic‐perfectly plastic material, perforated in an equilateral triangular penetration pattern of ...

The yield surface of h.c.p. crystals
Acta Metallurgica, 1985A general approach is proposed for calculating the single crystal yield surface (SCYS) of hexagonal close packed (h.c.p.) materials, necessary for the description of the plastic behavior of polycrystals. By taking explicitly into account the symmetry of the deformation systems present in the crystal, a systematic description of the SCYS is obtained ...

The Anisotropic Deformation of Yield Surfaces
Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1984Extensive experimental evidence indicates that yield surfaces exhibit significant anisotropic hardening. Subsequent yield surfaces are both translated and deformed in stress space. A viscoplasticity theory which describes anisotropic hardening by using a Lagrangian deformation mapping of the elastic domain is applied to the quantitative modelling of ...

Some new observations on yield surfaces
Acta Mechanica, 1974This paper presents the results of experiments in which two thinwalled tubes of commercially pure aluminium in the annealed condition were loaded in combined tension and torsion in the plastic region at elevated temperatures. In the first test prestressing was in torsion but of a cyclic nature. In the other test prestressing included a path reversal in
