Importance of non‐cardiovascular comorbidities in atrial fibrillation and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 389-400, February 2025.
Abstract Aims Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) are interlinked and frequently coexisting conditions. To date, patients with AF and HFpEF have limited evidence guiding their management. This study aimed to investigate the predictors of adverse outcomes among patients with AF and HFpEF.

Agent‐based intra‐regional relocation model considering spatial local amenity for urban planning‐based flood risk management: Assessing the impact of urban development on flood exposure

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 17, Issue 4, December 2024.
Abstract Integrated flood risk management based on urban policies remains challenging compared with infrastructure due to the unclear risk‐reduction effects over time. To consider heterogeneity in social responses to urban planning measures, a previous study developed an agent‐based household relocation model under flood risk (AHR‐FLOOD) by combining ...

Development of interpretable machine learning models to predict in‐hospital prognosis of acute heart failure patients

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 11, Issue 5, Page 2798-2812, October 2024.
Abstract Aims In recent years, there has been remarkable development in machine learning (ML) models, showing a trend towards high prediction performance. ML models with high prediction performance often become structurally complex and are frequently perceived as black boxes, hindering intuitive interpretation of the prediction results.

Fused filament fabrication of carbon fiber‐reinforced polymer composite: Effect of process parameters on flexural properties

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2024.
Short carbon fiber‐reinforced polymer (SFRP) composites are desirable for additive manufacturing (AM) applications, but their behavior under flexural load is more complex than pure polymers. In this work, the influence of build orientation and infill pattern is shown to significantly affect the flexural strength and modulus of the printed part.

Sediment Provenance Along the Middle Miocene‐Pleistocene Nankai Subduction Zone From Sediment Transport to Accretion: Implications for Stratigraphy in the Accretionary Prism

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2024.
Abstract Based on U‐Pb dating of zircon crystals and petrographic analysis, this study provides new insights into the paleogeographic and accretion evolution along SW Japan. Our data are consistent with an older submarine fan identified from drilling in the Shikoku Basin (Kyushu Fan ∼14.7–12.2 Ma), having a mixed sand provenance from the paleo‐Yangtze ...
