Carbon‐free inert anodes are essential for decarbonizing aluminum electrolysis. This study investigates a recyclate‐based MgO‐316L steel composite anode tested under galvanostatic Hall–Héroult conditions in cryolite at 1000°C. Microstructural analysis reveals selective MgO fluorination, spinel and oxide layer formation, electrolyte infiltration, and ...

Excision of singularities by stringy domain walls [PDF]
We study supersymmetric domain walls on S1/Z2 orbifolds. The supergravity solutions in the bulk are given by the attractor equation associated with Calabi–Yau (CY) spaces and have a naked space–time singularity at some |ys|.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Pensare in piccolo per costruire in grande: teoria, prassi e cultura del modello in scala ridotta nella ricerca della forma strutturale nel 20. secolo [PDF]
For many twentieth-century designers, the reduced-scale model represented an essential device for defining and controlling structural forms — one need only think of the work of Arturo Danusso, Pier Luigi Nervi and Sergio Musmeci in Italy; Eduardo ...

EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Thermal time requirements for phenophases of apple genotypes in Kullu valley
A field experiment was conducted at Horticultural Research Station, Seobag (Kullu) from 2004 to 2010. The phenology of ten apple cultivars was observed on every second day on three plants of each cultivar with three replications from bud-bust, green-tip,

The Hows and Ys of Genome Integrity [PDF]
Much of the Y chromosome consists of large palindromic arrays harboring genes that are critical for spermatogenesis. In this issue, Lange et al. (2009) show that although gene conversion within these arrays maintains their integrity, it also permits rare unequal sister chromatid-exchange events within palindromes that create unstable dicentric ...

Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.
