Short-Term Strong Cathodic Polarization of Ni/YSZ and Pt/YSZ [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of The Electrochemical Society, 2021
The initial stages of YSZ reduction and formation of intermetallic phases at Ni∣YSZ interfaces on strongly cathodically polarized electrodes were studied by a number of potential sweep and impedance techniques. The measurements were carried out in the potential range −1.0 V to −3.0 V vs E°(O2) in H2/H2O at 650 and 750 °C.

Oxygen-Ion Transfer between YSZ/YSZ and YSZ/LSCF under Mechanical Contact Stress

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2013
The present study concerns oxygen-ion transfer between yttria-stabilized zirconia single crystals (YSZ/YSZ) under mechanical contact stress. Two YSZ single crystal plates were piled up between platinum meshes, and contact stress was mechanically applied.

Thermophysical and mechanical properties of cubic, tetragonal and monoclinic ZrO2

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Yttrium-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) materials are routinely used as thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). The phase composition and microstructure of YSZ materials significantly influence their properties.

Preparation of NiCr/YSZ two-layered burn-resistant coating on γ-TiAl alloys based on plasma surface metallurgy and ion plating methods [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mining and Metallurgy. Section B: Metallurgy, 2021
The NiCr/YSZ coating was fabricated on γ-TiAl alloy by double glow plasma surface metallurgy technology and multi-arc ion plating technology. The microstructure, microhardness, bonding strength, and burn resistance of NiCr/YSZ coating were studied in ...

Comparison of the Degradation of the Polarisation Resistance of Symmetrical LSM-YSZ cells, with Anode Supported Ni-YSZ/YSZ/LSM-YSZ SOFCs [PDF]

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2009
Impedance spectra of a symmetrical cell with SOFC cathodes (LSM-YSZ/YSZ/LSM-YSZ) and an anode supported planar SOFC (Ni-YSZ/YSZ/LSM-YSZ) were collected at OCV at 650{degree sign}C in air (cathode) and humidified (4%) hydrogen (anode), over 155 hours. The impedance was affected by degradation over time in the same frequency range for both cells (~10 Hz),

ZrO2 9.5Y2O3 5.6Yb2O3 5.2Gd2O3; a promising TBC material with high resistance to hot corrosion

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2020
Hot corrosion in Na2SO4-V2O5 environments has been regarded as a major challenge in the destruction of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). The present study introduces a new TBC (ZrO2 9.5Y2O3 5.6Yb2O3 5.2Gd2O3 (ZGYbY)) with enhanced resistance to hot ...

A HREM study of the atomic structure and the growth mechanism of the YBa2Cu3O7/YSZ interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The interface between yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) substrate and YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) film was studied by high-resolution electron microscopy. In all specimens we have observed an intermediate layer of BaZrO3 located between the substrate YSZ and YBCO ...

Preparation and sintering behavior of GdYb-YSZ nanostructured thermal barrier coating

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Gd and Yb co-doped YSZ (GdYb-YSZ) is one of the potential ultra-high temperature thermal barrier coatings due to its excellent properties. GdYb-YSZ nanostructured coatings were prepared using atmospheric plasma spraying, and the deposition mechanism ...

Does speed-sintering affect the optical and mechanical properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia? A systematic review and meta-analysis of in-vitro studies

open access: yesJapanese Dental Science Review, 2023
Zirconia restorations are increasingly popular in dental treatment. Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) needs to be sintered for clinical applications and novel speed-sintering protocols are being developed for chairside treatments.
