Electrochemical activation of molecular nitrogen at the Ir/YSZ interface. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Nitrogen is often used as an inert background atmosphere in solid state studies of electrode and reaction kinetics, of solid state studies of transport phenomena, and in applications e.g. solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), sensors and membranes.

Electrophoretic deposition of YSZ layers on pyrolytic graphite and a porous anode substrate based on NiO-YSZ

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta, 2022
Solid oxide fuel cells are promising hydrogen energy devices. The goal of this research was to create ceramic layers for SOFCs based on yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and to investigate their parameters.

X-ray photoemission spectroscopy determination of the InN/yttria stabilized cubic-zirconia valence band offset [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The valence band offset of wurtzite InN(0001)/yttria stabilized cubic-zirconia (YSZ)(111) heterojunctions is determined by x-ray photoemission spectroscopy to be 1.19±0.17 eV giving a conduction band offset of 3.06±0.20 eV.

Microstructural development, electrical properties and oxygen permeation of zirconia-palladium composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia (YSZ)-palladium dual phase composites have been investigated. The percolative composite containing 40 vol% Pd (ZYPd40) showed a much larger oxygen permeability than that of the non-percolative composite containing 30 vol%

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CERAMIC METAL Ni-YSZ PREPARED FROM LOCAL ZIRCON SAND AT VARIOUS Ni:YSZ COMPOSITION

open access: yesAlchemy, 2017
This research synthesized a cermet Ni-YSZ, in which the YSZ (yttria stabilized-zirconia) was synthesized from the local zircon sand, ZrSiO4, as a side product of tin mining plant in Bangka island, Indonesia.

Microstructural Evolution and Gas-Tight Properties of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia/Crofer 22H Stainless Steel Brazed Joints with the Ag-Ge-Si Filler for Use in Solid-Oxide Fuel Cells

open access: yesMetals, 2023
In this paper, a novel 95Ag-2.5Ge-2.5Si (in wt %) filler is utilized for brazing yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolytes and commercial Crofer 22H interconnects for solid-oxide fuel cells’ (SOFCs) sealing application.

Formation of Nano-porous Structure in a Cathode at the Interface between Pt Electrode and YSZ during CO2 Electrolysis at 1,000 °C

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2018
The electrolysis of CO2 was investigated using a simple Pt/YSZ/Pt cell (yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ)). The cell performance increased drastically after applying the overvoltage of 4.0 V for ~5 min.

Impact of Preparation Method and Y2O3 Content on the Properties of the YSZ Electrolyte

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
This study is an effort to cover and interconnect multiple aspects of the fabrication of the yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) from powder preparation to a solid electrolyte suitable for utilization in solid oxide cells. Thus, a series of YSZ electrolytes
