From Single to Multi‐Material 3D Printing of Glass‐Ceramics for Micro‐Optics

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This article explores advancements in two‐photon lithography (TPL) for fabricating high‐refractive‐index micro‐optics. It examines single and multi‐material 3D architectures in glass and ceramics (GLACEs), highlighting photoresin customization, critical fabrication conditions, and cross‐scale structural and optical characterization.

A Stabilization Mechanism of Zirconia Based on Oxygen Vacancies Only [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
The microscopic mechanism leading to stabilization of cubic and tetragonal forms of zirconia (ZrO$_2$) is analyzed by means of a self-consistent tight-binding model. Using this model, energies and structures of zirconia containing different vacancy concentrations are calculated, equivalent in concentration to the charge compensating vacancies ...

Power‐to‐X Processes with Synthetic Iron Oxides

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Iron oxide redox cycling connects electrolytic hydrogen production and storage, enabling synthesis gas generation for synthetic hydrocarbons. Integrating H2/CO2 cycles offers carbon‐neutral energy storage and industrial applications, especially in commodity chemical industries. An aluminous‐rich binder stabilizes a sample over 20 H2/CO2 cycles, without

The Effect of Glazing and Repeated Firing on Color, Translucency, and Flexural Strength of Different Types of Zirconia: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesCeramics
This study evaluated the impact of glazing and multiple firing on the flexural strength, translucency, and color stability of three types of zirconia: 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (3Y-TZP), 4 mol% yttria partially stabilized ...

Vacancy ordering effects on the conductivity of yttria- and scandia-doped zirconia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Polarizable interaction potentials, parametrized using ab initio electronic structure calculations, have been used in molecular dynamics simulations to study the conduction mechanism in Y2 O3 - and Sc2 O3 -doped zirconias. The influence of vacancy-vacancy and vacancy-cation interactions on the conductivity of these materials has been characterised ...

Emergent Epitaxial Configuration of Pr3IrO7 Domains via YSZ (111) Substrate

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
Epitaxial growth of Pr3IrO7, with its highly anisotropic structure, on a (111)‐oriented Yttrium‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) substrate leads to distinctive domain configurations. This domain arrangement gives rise to spin‐glass behavior, markedly different from bulk materials, highlighting the impact of reduced dimensionality and substrate interaction.

Evaluation of compressive and adhesive strengths of a hybrid ceramic and 5Y‐PSZ zirconia cemented with three different materials

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the compressive and adhesive strengths of ceramic restorations (PICN and 5Y‐PSZ zirconia) cemented with one of three types of cements: conventional glass ionomer cement (GI), resin‐modified glass ionomer cement (RM‐GI), and self‐adhesive resin cement (R).

The effect of different surface treatments on the shear bond strength of new generation zirconia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, EarlyView.
Twelve zirconia subgroups were created using different material types and surface treatments. Sandblasting and tribochemical silica coating significantly improved shear bond strength. Bond strength varied based on zirconia type, surface treatment, and their interaction, emphasizing the importance of surface preparation.
