Microstructural changes in Beta-silicon nitride grains upon crystallizing the grain-boundary glass [PDF]

open access: yes
Crystallizing the grain boundary glass of a liquid phase sintered Si3N4 ceramic for 2 h or less at 1500 C led to formation of gamma Y2Si2O7. After 5 h at 1500 C, the gamma Y2Si2O7 had transformed to beta Y2Si2O7 with a concurrent dramatic increase in ...

Microstructural and Thermal Evolution of Turbostratic and Crystalline hBN Using SPS With In‐Situ YAG

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 4, April 2026.
hBN ceramics with an in‐situ formed YAG phase were fabricated by SPS using turbostratic and crystalline powders. The results show that the microstructure, textural orientation, and functional properties of hBN ceramics can be significantly controlled by sintering temperature, starting powder structure, and additives.

AB-INITIO SIMULATION OF ELECTRONIC FEATURES OF HYPERFINE RARE EARTH OXIDE FILMS FOR SENSORY NANOSYSTEMS

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2014
Ab-Initio simulation of electronic features of sensoring nanomaterials based on rare earth oxides has been made by the example of yttrium oxide. The simulation method for thin films of nanometer scale consisted in the simulation of the material layer of ...

Chemical stability of high-temperature superconductors [PDF]

open access: yes
A review of the available studies on the chemical stability of the high temperature superconductors (HTS) in various environments was made. The La(1.8)Ba(0.2)CuO4 HTS is unstable in the presence of H2O, CO2, and CO.

Metal Brazing‐Free Ceramic‐to‐Ceramic Hermetic Sealing for All‐Ceramic Active Implantable Devices

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Hermetic sealing of engineering ceramic‐based active implantable medical devices (AIMDs) is a crucial part of their fabrication and significantly influences the reliability and lifetime of the devices once implanted within a biological environment.

Frequency Dependence of Cationic Interdiffusion Kinetics in Er2O3/Y2O3 Diffusion Couples Under AC Flash Events

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The cationic interdiffusion behavior during flash events was investigated using Er2O3/Y2O3 diffusion couples under alternating current (AC) electric fields at different frequencies (50–2000 Hz) with similar specimen temperatures. The diffusion length of Er3+ in the Y2O3 body was athermally enhanced with increasing frequency.

Divergent Phosphorus‐Mining Strategies in Simple and Compound Cluster Roots in Extremely Phosphorus‐Impoverished Soils in Southwest Australia

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 1833-1847, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Most Proteaceae and some Fabaceae species produce specialised cluster roots (CRs), and are abundant in severely phosphorus (P)‐impoverished soils in southwest Australia. Two types of CRs, compound and simple, have been identified. However, the difference in their P‐mining strategies remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted glasshouse and field
