Properties and Performance of High-Purity Thermal Barrier Coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
It has been found that reducing the level of impurity oxides (particularly SiO2 and Al2O3) in 7YSZ, from about 0.2 wt% to below 0.1 wt% raises the sintering resistance and the phase stability of plasma-sprayed coatings.

Significantly improving the oxidation and spallation resistance of a MCrAlY alloy by controlling the distribution of yttrium

open access: yesCorrosion Science, 2019
The NiCoCrAlY alloy with uniform yttrium distribution was fabricated via powder milling and spark plasma sintering. After powder milling, yttrium was uniformly distributed in the alloy in the form of Ni-Y precipitates (50–150 nm) and nano-sized Y2O3 ...

Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.
